YOU MUST BE A CURRENT LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER WITH TUPELO POLICE DEPARTMENT OR LEE COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION!

Job Summary:

Support our local mall in their security needs and be an integral part of the facility’s needs by observing and reporting activities and incidents, as well as providing security and safety to both the venue’s property and personnel. Off Duty Police Officers must possess and maintain professional image and help make our clients’ venues places where shoppers can have a safe and pleasant experience. Shifts are 5 hours on Friday and/or Saturday evenings.

Responsibilities:

Duties may vary depending on the event, staff size, organizational structure and/or geographical location. Reasonable accommodation may be made to allow for certain ADA requirements. Other duties not listed below may also be assigned.

  • Be on time and report to post in full uniform.
  • Delivery of quality service and positive interaction with our customers is critical to the completion of all the tasks within this job description. The ability to greet all visitors, vendors, and employees while continuously maintaining the standards of excellence in presentation and professionalism. Customer Service is Every Employee’s Job!
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all emergency policies, procedures, and regulations. Respond immediately to emergency alarms or calls for help, determine course of action, notify appropriate authorities, and assist as needed.
  • Be diligent and vigilant in safety awareness.
  • Know and understand post orders, revisions, and daily event needs. Know your chain of command.
  • Responsibilities are not limited to these listed and may be expanded upon at any time at the request of the client.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age or older
  • High School Diploma and/or equivalent (GED).
  • Must be an active full-time or reserve law enforcement officer with either the Tupelo Police Department or the Lee County Sheriff's Department.

Skills And Abilities:

  • An Off Duty Police Officer is to be honest, alert, and well-disciplined as the custodians of employee and customer property and safety.

  • Ability to facilitate progressive change, follow directions, work as part of a team and get along with other employees.
  • Work with a sense of urgency.
  • Clear and effective oral and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

In general, the following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an Off Duty Police Officer to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to allow for certain ADA requirements.

  • Must be able to see, hear, speak, and write clearly in order to communicate with employees and/or other customers.
  • Pushing/pulling/carrying/lifting may include up to 50 lbs.
  • Normal vision or corrected by use of glasses and/or contacts for normal reading and viewing abilities.
  • Ability to twist, turn, bend, stand, climb stairs and walk as required to perform the duties associated with functioning as an Off Duty Police Officer.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
The following are the minimum qualifications that an individual needs in order to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position. Please note that the minimum qualifications may vary based upon the department size and/or geographic location.

  • Candidate must hold a Lee County, MS Commission Card and be a current law enforcement officer with Tupelo Police Department or Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
  • High School Diploma and/or equivalent (GED).
  • Must be willing to submit to a background and drug screen; any offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background investigation.
