Contribute to the delivery of the European element of the Bank’s global Fund Sponsors, Strategic Investors and Alternative Assets (“FSA”) Coverage strategy to enhance our servicing of large, global complex sponsor clients including designated Private Capital & Strategic Investor (PCSI) priorities:
Purpose
- Provide relationship management and strategic planning to designated FSA / PCSI clients including coverage of real asset teams within this client set and portfolio companies and co-ordinate with global coverage team
- Origination of new transactions across full suite of available products
- Development and delivery of solutions to meet client needs
- Specifically support developing growth from identified and targeted clients
- Pipeline management, account planning and multi-product origination
- Support directors and heads of with senior client engagement
- Delivery of leading industry insights
- Provision of high-quality business management support
- Coordination of relevant client activities across FSA / PCSI
- Creating and maintaining a sustainable risk position in relation to the designated client set
- Develop and implement client strategic account plans and build long-term client relationships
- All objectives are to be achieved in line with the C&IB Global Strategy and with the NAB’s key stakeholders: shareholders, customers, community and colleagues.
- The role requires close collaboration with a broad range of product specialists, e.g. Markets, Specialised Financing, Transaction Banking & DCM, the Client Management & Execution (CME) team, PCS, Agency, other Coverage teams and credit/ risk colleagues. The role will be required to work collaboratively within Corporate & Institutional Banking, across business units and geographies to build the global FSA business.
Core Responsibilities:
Financial / Business Management
- For the portfolio of clients and targets, assist the Business Head to ensure the delivery of banking products and earnings are maximised, costs are controlled and NAB’s return hurdles are satisfied
- Assess each client’s (target’s) total financial product and service requirements and ensure an optimised number of cross-sell within NAB’s products portfolio to each client (target)
Customer & Community
- Together with the wider FSA Coverage team and product specialists, develop and implement a strategic and tactical plan for each Client, based on knowledge of the Client’s industry, growth projections, funding strategies and objectives. Ensure plans remain consistent with the business objectives re financial and operational solutions for the Client
- Relationship development and marketing to existing Clients and business development to prospective Clients, including co-ordination of transactions or product sales to meet agreed revenue targets
- Develop Client and Product pitches for delivery to Clients
- Prepare briefing notes and/or presentations for team heads
- Expand/ strengthen relationship with clients at multiple levels with the objective of being financier of choice and sounding board for financing ideas/queries/strategies. Aim to develop a lead relationship role.
- Liaise with product specialists/advisors in client team to develop financing proposals. Coordinate and oversee the marketing of ideas and Bank products to appropriate client contacts and ensure implementation of transactions in timely manner.

Stakeholders
- Represent C&IB and the FSA super sector at client, industry and stakeholder regional and global forums both internally and externally including risk/management committees and conferences

- Originate deals & co-ordinate the deal origination process. As appropriate, supervise and manage the execution of transactions.
- Liaise with Product specialists/advisors in Client team to develop financing proposals. Co-ordinate and oversee the marketing of ideas and nab products to appropriate Clients contacts and ensure implementation of transactions in timely manner.
- Oversee the ongoing usage and management of existing facilities.
- Obtain internal pricing approvals
Working Relationship Are As Follow:
- Clients (frequent) for understanding of clients industry business and delivery of financial solutions to meet business needs.
- Senior Management for reference, where necessary on key issues, operational points of reference, input into performance measurement and review.
- Product specialist area (frequent) for delivery of financial solutions for clients.
- Client Management & Execution (CM&E) team for origination and execution support and, where necessary, providing input on client relationship and aspects of portfolio management relevant to transactions originated
- Product Specialist areas for delivery of multi-product financial solutions (debt, derivatives, capital markets, distribution, agency etc.) and developing as well as enhancing the client relationship
- Credit Risk Management for engagement regarding risk appetite, structuring, credit approvals & ongoing asset quality
- Legal Services review of legal documents and sign-off on final documents, advice on legal issues/commercial impacts.
- Operating Services - to ensure effective implementation of client requirements
- FSA Coverage Leadership Team – coordination and delivery of global FSA business strategy/plan
- Other internal enablement partners – e.g. Finance, Divisional Controls, Lending Admin, GORO. Key client liaison for preparing Sanctions papers and assisting obtaining all necessary information for know your customer purposes.
- Industry and external market contacts – develop and promote NAB’s business and regional activities, remain closely informed of industry developments
Financial Accountability:
- Delivering on Financial Aspirations and of planned Revenue/RWA, ROE Expenses, and Revenue from new sources
- Delivering to Customers (sales disciplines, account plans, senior executive engagement)
- Proactively managing risk and compliance (policies and procedures adherence).
Critical Experience:
- Managing complex client relationships and driving client advocacy and multi-product origination, to deliver revenue and financial outperformance
- Proven experience of being an effective team player and helping to build a strong sales excellence culture
- Demonstrating deep understanding of institutional banking, general accounting principles, project and structured financing
- Demonstrating strong risk culture and outcomes
- Research, writing and presentation delivery experience
- Strategy development experience
- FSA / PCSI experience is not essential, but highly regarded
- Sustainability / ESG related experience is not essential, but highly regarded
Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualified with degree typically in Business or Finance related disciplines
- 5+ years’ professional experience in investment/financial industry in a related role and preferably with operational experience
- Experience in originating and structuring a broad range of complex finance transactions, preferably across a range of utility, infrastructure and renewable energy segments, gained within a major international bank, along with demonstrable ability to monitor and understand risks.
- Excellent client engagement skills to develop and grow client relationships.
- Sound understanding of financial markets both locally and globally.
