As an Engineer in Civica’s Platform team, you will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining our cloud-based platforms. You’ll take ownership of our cloud hosting platform—used by Engineering teams to deliver services to our customers—while also creating solutions that enhance development speed and improve the overall developer experience.
- Work with both internal and external systems to ensure they are performant, reliable, secure, and scalable
- Build solutions that enable developers to rapidly design, develop, and iterate on our software and services
- Tackle complex technical challenges with innovative approaches
- Modernise and improve legacy platforms using best-in-class methods
- Act as a subject matter expert to support and guide colleagues
- Drive best practices across our platform engineering community
Requirements
What you will need to be successful in this role
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and/or Amazon Web Services, managing cloud environments.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and Docker for deploying and managing containerised applications.
- Strong Linux administration skills and understanding of networking fundamentals.
- Ability to build reliable, performant, and scalable systems.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools to maintain system health.
- Knowledge of on-call processes and implementing secure, resilient platforms.
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Bicep.
- Implementing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or similar.
- Understanding of DevOps principles and practices to improve team productivity.
- Scripting and automation to streamline processes and reduce manual work.
- Programming experience in Python, Go, or another DevOps-friendly language.
- Experience migrating VM-based systems to cloud-native architectures
