About The Job.

We are currently recruiting for a Lead Data and Information Governance Manager to join our Chief Data Office within Digital Services. Our data is more than a digital reflection of our assets. Data is an asset in its own right and our purpose is to connect hearts and minds to data so we can use it to connect the country. 

We work collaboratively across the Chief Data Office, and with our colleagues throughout National Highways, to deliver the Chief Data Officer’s vision and strategy on how we manage our data assets.

As part of your role, you will ensure that the appropriate policies, processes, frameworks and guardrails are in place to support the business in making decisions based on fit for purpose and trusted data and information.

You will support our journey towards becoming a digitally focused, data-driven company.

Please note this position can be based in any of our UK offices however, regular travel to regional offices to attend team meetings will be required. 

  • Supporting the management of the monetisation of data and information assets 
  • Championing data leadership throughout the company, by supporting the specification of required competences and mentoring data and information professionals in all parts of National Highways 
  • Supporting the development of statute and external regulations and standards to protect the interests of National Highways; determining the technical requirements necessary to comply with these and reflect in company documentation 
  • Delivering the data and information assurance regime including the verification of the condition and performance of data and information assets
  • Supporting in the development of technical recommendations arising from formal investigations and other investigations into significant safety or performance affecting failures

About You.

  • Evolves and defines data governance, and takes responsibility for collaborating and supporting in wider governance
  • Excellent ability to influence and negotiate with senior stakeholders over data approaches
  • Turns complex data into clear, simple and actionable stories and ensures that the most appropriate actions are taken to resolve data problems as they occur
  • Able to define strategies and policies, providing guidance to others on working in the strategic context. Evaluates current strategies to ensure business requirements are being met and exceeded where possible
  • Excellent understanding of the impact of emerging trends, data tools, analysis techniques and data usage

The Digital Services Directorate is helping to reshape the way National Highways operates by delivering digital, data, and technology services across all areas, from frontline to back office, in a modern and efficient manner. External candidates will be offered a starting salary at the lower end of the pay scale, while current employees will be appointed in accordance with our established pay policy.
