Position Summary:

Drive the discovery design, and delivery of high-impact AI initiatives across the business. They will focus on identifying and executing practical applications of AI such as conversational AI, automated document processing, and intelligent decisioning to improve cash collections, new portfolio acquisition, efficiency, customer experience and compliance.

This role is hybrid and requires working onsite three days a week working in our Norfolk, VA office OR our Charlotte, NC office.

Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate has previous experience working for a Fintech, Big Tech or AI Solutions Product company. Will also have a proven track record of delivering AI solutions for financial services or banking organizations
  • Requires at least 7+ years of overall professional IT experience with 5+ years of experience leading AI/ML, automation, or product development initiatives.
  • Deep understanding of AI/ML technologies, including NLP, computer vision, predictive analytics, and intelligent automation
  • Strong practical understanding and experience of AI ecosystem incl. voice AI, LLM orchestration, decision engines and intelligent workflow automation
  • Experience with tools such as Dialogflow, Azure Cognitive Services, or similar platforms
  • Must have practical hands-on experience in delivering successful AI, digital and tech solutions. 
  • Strong technical understanding of overall AI, with 5+ years of leading AI/ML, automation, or product development initiatives
  • Proven track record of building and implementing AI solutions in operational environments (not just POCs)
  • Proficiency in evaluating AI models and understanding their performance metrics and limitations.
  • Vendor and stakeholder management, including contract negotiation and performance oversight.
  • Ability to articulate ROI and strategic value of AI initiatives to business and executive stakeholders
  • Excellent problem-solving, stakeholder communication, and delivery management skills
  • Bachelors in engineering or Computer Science

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in consumer collections, legal recovery, or disputes resolution
  • Familiarity with operational and compliance environments in financial services
  • Exposure to AI governance, responsible AI practices, or model monitoring

Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with AI applications in financial services, collections, or regulated industries.
  • Knowledge of data governance, model risk management, and AI compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, AI Act).
  • Skilled in strategic thinking with the ability to translate business challenges into AI opportunities.
  • Strong product management and program leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills with ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in evaluating AI models and understanding their performance metrics and limitations.
  • Vendor and stakeholder management, including contract negotiation and performance oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and prioritize real-world AI opportunities across the business (e.g., call center, legal, digital)
  • Translate operational problems into structured AI use cases (e.g., autonomous virtual agent, E2E legal process optimization, disputes optimization)
  • Lead the design and delivery of AI-powered solutions in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external vendors
  • Oversee implementation of AI agents (voice/text), document automation, intelligent routing, and LLM-based solutions
  • Define and monitor performance indicators such as automation rate, recovery uplift, and resolution times
  • Ensure AI solutions are deployed in a secure, ethical, and regulatory-compliant manner (e.g., Reg F, GDPR)
  • Work cross-functionally with Tech, Ops, Legal, Data Science, and vendors to deliver scalable solutions
  • Success in this role will be measured by the following key performance indicators

(Kpis):

  • AI Initiative Impact: Measurable improvements in business outcomes (e.g., increased collections, reduced processing time, improved customer satisfaction) directly attributable to AI solutions.
  • Time-to-Value: Speed and efficiency in moving AI initiatives from concept to deployment, including pilot-to-scale timelines.
  • Adoption Rates: Internal adoption and utilization of AI tools and platforms by business units and end users.
  • Model Performance: Accuracy, precision, recall, and other relevant metrics for deployed AI models, aligned with business goals.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Adherence to regulatory requirements and internal governance standards for AI usage.
  • Innovation Pipeline: Number and quality of new AI use cases identified, validated, and prioritized for development.
  • Stakeholder Satisfaction: Feedback from cross-functional partners and executive sponsors on collaboration, communication, and strategic alignment.
  • Cost Efficiency: ROI of AI investments, including cost savings, automation benefits, and resource optimization.
