The department of Intercollegiate Athletics at Pittsburg State University is accepting applications for the position of Accounting Specialist. The primary function of the accounting specialist is to provide professional management accounting support and assist with administrative duties to accomplish the fiscal work of the athletics department. Performs professional management accounting and administrative services for the athletics department. Responsible for all fiscal matters concerning the athletics department on a day-to-day basis and provides competent fiscal management within the athletics program. The position implements fiscal controls and policies to ensure compliance with University, State, MIAA and NCAA rules and regulations.
Duties And Responsibilities
50% - Approves, verifies and provides oversight on the processing of all financial transactions for the athletics department including the review of revenues, disbursements, reconciliations and other financial analyses. Oversees all accounts payable & receivable transactions. Reconciliation of all university procurement purchasing card purchases.
25% - Maintains, identifies, prepares and verifies data in order to prepare financial reports required by the NCAA, MIAA and other athletic associations and affiliations, primarily, the annual NCAA revenue and expenditures report and the Equity in Athletics (EADA) report.
20% - Monitors, audits, reviews and corrects any fiscal management need of the Department of Athletics as requested by the Director of Athletics and other University administrative personnel.
5% - Other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Athletics.
Education And Experience
Required Education and Experience – Time of Hire
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three years of fiscal, office or administrative support.
Preferred Education and Experience -
- Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Three (3) years of intercollegiate athletics finance experience
