Paid Civil Engineering College Internship, District 4 - Planning & Engineering-Capital Programs Administration
Work location: District 4 Headquarters, 2088 South Arlington Road, Akron, OH 44306

- To be eligible, you must be in good academic standing, pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering and be able to provide proof of Enrollment Documentation including your GPA.
What You Will Do:
- • Assist with planning activities and traffic engineering studies such as safety and speed zone reviews, traffic counts and accident/traffic signal analysis
- • Gain experience using CADD, MicroStation and district traffic software
- • Verify sign and pavement marking locations, photograph project sites and participate in field reviews and scoping
- • Research plans and maintain accurate records to help prepare reports

Upon graduation, interns are eligible to apply to be an ODOT employee through the Transportation Civil Engineering (TCE) Program. This program gives a new engineer the on-the-job experience, continued education through training and seminars offered at ODOT and the ability to work with Professional Engineers leading towards the requirements necessary in obtaining their P.E. certification. Qualifications
Must currently be enrolled in a college or university, pursuing a Civil Engineering degree and in good academic standing with a minimum of a 2.00 GPA. Must show proof of valid driver's license in order to operate state vehicle.
The final candidate for the position will be required to undergo a criminal background check. Criminal convictions do not necessarily preclude an applicant from consideration for a position. An assessment of an applicant's prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration.

This is a temporary position involving various duties that will supplement the student's major field of study &/or provide experience that is a useful addition to the student's education & meaningful preparing for future professional employment.
Rate of pay is based upon the student's academic status (determined by the college or university):
- Freshman and Sophomore Students - $19.50 per hour
- Junior and Senior - $20.00 per hour
- Graduate Students - $24.00 per hourThis position is overtime eligible based on FLSA Standards.This position is unclassified per Section 124.11(A)(29).
