Research Associate – IIM Bangalore Center of Excellence for Digital Public Goods

Purpose

IIM Bangalore's Center of Excellence for Digital Public Goods (CDPG) is seeking highly motivated and talented Research Associate to join our team. The Center of Excellence for Digital Public Goods at IIM Bangalore is a leading institution dedicated to studying and advancing digital public infrastructure (DPI) and digital public goods (DPG) initiatives. As a repository of knowledge in this field, we provide thought leadership and advisory services for policymakers, practitioners, and researchers worldwide. Our rigorous research evaluates the effectiveness of DPI and DPG initiatives, positioning us as a trusted authority on digital public infrastructure and digital public goods. As a Research Associate, you will play a crucial role in leading cutting-edge research, developing innovative solutions, and contributing to the overall vision of the center.

Duration

Initially for a period of 6 Months. Based on the performance and requirement, it can be extended further.

Principal Accountabilities & Responsibilities
  • Conduct research: Support research on digital public goods, with a focus on building an inclusive and open data repository, and documenting success stories of DPI and DPG initiatives leading to a one-of-its-kind knowledge repository.
  • Data analysis and interpretation: Collect, analyse, and interpret data related to digital public goods, utilizing appropriate research methodologies and statistical techniques. 
  • Project development: Contribute to the development of research projects and proposals that align with the center's objectives, including in evangelizing and documenting international and national replications of DPI and DPGs in other contexts.
  • Partnerships and fund raising: Assist in securing funding for research initiatives and establishing partnerships with relevant stakeholders.
  • Publication and dissemination: Contribute to research papers, reports, and other publications for dissemination in reputable academic journals, conferences, and policy forums. Contribute to the center's data repository, knowledge repository, and experience repository through collaborative documentation and knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborative engagement: Collaborate with researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and industry experts to foster interdisciplinary research collaborations and contribute to the overall intellectual environment of the center.
Qualification and Personal Profile
  • A Masters’ degree in a relevant field such as management, information systems, public policy, economics, or a related discipline.
  • Strong research background with a focus on digital technologies, open source software, data governance, or related areas.
  • Expertise in research methodologies, data analysis, and statistical techniques, and/ or qualitative research methods.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate research findings and engage in collaborative discussions.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, with strong organizational and time management skills.

Key Skilland Ability Requirements

  • Knowledge of, and experience in working with emerging technologies, digital innovation, and the concept of digital public goods.
  • Prior experience in working in research institutions/ research centres.
