The instructor ensures that all training sessions meet AHA standards and guidelines, delivering high-quality education that prepares healthcare providers and laypersons to respond effectively to cardiac and respiratory emergencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct AHA BLS courses, including initial certification and renewal classes, in accordance with AHA guidelines.
- Deliver engaging and effective instruction using AHA-approved materials, videos, and skills practice sessions.
- Deliver AHA BLS Training: Conduct ad-hoc AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) training sessions as needed, ensuring compliance with AHA guidelines, and provide hands-on practice for participants to develop CPR, AED usage, and other life-saving skills.
- Prepare, Assess, and Certify: Set up training environments, evaluate participant performance through practical assessments and written exams, and issue AHA certifications to those who meet the required standards.
- Maintain Standards and Records: Ensure all courses adhere to AHA policies, maintain accurate participant records and certifications, and report any issues with equipment or course delivery promptly.
- Stay current with AHA guidelines, course updates, and instructor renewal requirements.
- Provide constructive feedback to participants to enhance learning and skill retention.
- Represent the organization and AHA professionally, upholding the highest standards of patient safety and ethical teaching practices.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Current AHA BLS Instructor certification.
- Current AHA BLS Provider certification.
- Strong knowledge of AHA resuscitation guidelines and emergency cardiovascular care.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to facilitate learning in both small and large groups.
- Organized, dependable, and detail-oriented with strong documentation skills.
- Healthcare background preferred (e.g., nurse, paramedic, physician, allied health professional), but not always required depending on Training Center policies.
Performance Indicators:
- Compliance with AHA teaching standards and guidelines.
- Positive participant evaluations and feedback.
- Accuracy and timeliness in submitting course documentation.
- Ongoing professional development and instructor recertification.
