Job Description Summary:
The Associate Director, Cyber Engagement, under general direction, is responsible for the planning and execution of the Texas A&M University System (TAMUS) shared service chief information security officer (shared CISO) program and other cyber shared services. The incumbent ensures that appropriate TAMUS information security policies, standards, procedures, and compliance requirements are met at each participating member, and provides professional services and resources to assist members in achieving their compliance requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Sets and provides guidance for implementing information security policy and procedures at participating members to ensure network security, access control, physical security, application development, and management appropriately meet institution, Federal, State, and industry regulatory requirements.
- Communicates to the chief information officer and executive team of each participating member, and with the System Chief Information Security Officer on behalf of the participating members.
- Collaborates with other TAMUS members to identify and execute information security initiatives.
- Develops, communicates, supports, and manages compliance with information security policies and internal audits.
- Ensures adoption and implementation of appropriate information security policies and procedures, and State and Federal regulations.
- Communicates with the public, employees, faculty, and staff on security procedures, policy changes, and any security events that occur at participating members.
- Provides leadership for information security to participating member's executive teams.
- Participates in industry research, workshops, and other related continuing education activities to ensure that policies and procedures effectively support member needs, as well as position members to be protected against future concerns and developments.
- Education and Experience:
- - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Eight years of related experience in IT including at least four years as an information security officer in a major organization.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:
- Knowledge of security advising or consulting, developing, and enforcing security policies.
- Knowledge of complex and mixed technology environments.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding.- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.- Ability to communicate changes in security policy to end users.- Work beyond normal offices hours and/or work on weekends.
- Travel Required.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Four years experience as a chief information security officer in an institution for higher education.
- Experience managing an information security program for multiple institutions or agencies as a shared service.
