The Sr. Global Trade and Customs Manager is responsible for leading trade compliance and customs operations across the APAC region. This role ensures adherence to import/export regulations, drives strategic trade initiatives, and supports operational excellence. The Sr. Manager will collaborate with internal stakeholders, government agencies, and external partners to maintain compliant, efficient, and cost-effective cross-border operations.
This role is critical to ensuring Vantive’s ongoing ability to trade across country borders in a seamless, complaint, and efficient manner. This role will drive strategy and execution across 4 key areas:
Trade Facilitation
- Trade Program Management (C-TPAT, AEO)
- Trade Compliance/ Risk Management
Trade Cost Optimization
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the regional subject matter expert (SME) on trade and customs matters, advising internal teams and external partners
- Monitor and assess regulatory changes across the region; implement compliance strategies to mitigate risks and ensure adherence
- Lead regional execution of trade programs such as C-TPAT, AEO, and other trusted trader initiatives
- Oversee classification, valuation, country of origin determination, and export controls for regional transactions
- Implement and maintain regional SOPs and work instructions for import/export compliance
- Manage customs audits, inquiries, and post-entry/export procedures, ensuring timely resolution and proper documentation
- Drive cost optimization through trade mechanisms such as FTZs, duty drawback, FTA programs, and tariff engineering
- Develop and report on regional trade KPIs and performance metrics
- Support digital trade initiatives including master data management and compliance screening standards (HTS, ECCN, COO, DPL)
- Provide training to regional teams and stakeholders to promote awareness and adherence to trade compliance standards
- Collaborate with supply chain, finance, legal, and external partners to resolve trade-related issues and support business objectives
Minium Required Qualification, Experience & Skillsets
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in International Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field is required
- Customs Broker license or equivalent certification is preferred
- Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or similar credentials are preferred
- Strong background in HTS classification, valuation, country of origin determination, and trade program management (e.g., C-TPAT, AEO, ISA, SASP)
- Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills
- Proficiency in trade management systems such as SAP, Thomson Reuters OneSource, and analytics/reporting platforms
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in international trade compliance, customs operations, and regulatory affairs
- At least 5 years of direct people management experience, including hiring, developing, and leading teams across multiple organizational layers
- Proven experience managing formal audits and interactions with Customs, SAT, Ministries of Health, and other regulatory agencies
- Experience working in highly regulated industries such as healthcare or pharmaceuticals is ideal
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint and Word) and demonstrated ability to perform advanced analytics
- Ability to work independently and influence cross-functional teams across multiple geographies
