Primarily responsible for day-to-day patient throughput in the Cardiac Cath Lab with regard to patient scheduling, patient care management, resource management, knowledge and adherence to JCAHO, federal, and state regulations. Participates in direct care as needed, with the remaining time devoted to leadership and scheduling tasks. Collaborates with leadership in the efficient use of staff and resources, to accomplish scheduled and emergency angiographic procedures during normal working hours. Assumes a leadership role in individual area of expertise and for projects as assigned. Assist leadership to ensure availability of competent staff to conduct the services of the Cardiac Cath Lab. Serves as a clinical resource to other CCL staff and promotes the spirit of teamwork among that staff. Responds to physicians and fellow hospital staff in a professional manner, always remembering that patient care is our first concern. Assists leadership with the responsibility for patient care, quality improvement, and equipment maintenance.

•    Actively participates in administering patient care and oversight of related service.
•    Coordinates the admission, discharge and transfer of patients in collaboration with Directors and other Department leaders.
•    Assists families and patients by teaching the skills and information necessary for successful post-discharge care, incorporating age-specific criteria and assessment of readiness to learn.
•    Assures that patient equipment and supplies are available and in working order.
•    Participates in performance improvement activities such as patient satisfaction, physician satisfaction, and staff satisfaction performing surveys as necessary.
•    Identifies deficiencies in staff notifies Director as necessary. Monitors annual quality indicators for compliance to standards.
•    Applies the knowledge of growth and development to appropriate patient populations.
•    Maintains personal responsibility for professional growth and development.
•    Ensures the provision of a safe and comforting environment.
•    Maintains patient confidentiality.
•    Maintains universal precautions.
•    Assists in the overall operation of the Departments through active participation in projects aimed at achieving the hospital’s mission and incorporates the values of the organization in day-to-day activities.
•    Assists in the selection of equipment, supplies and goods, for the running of the hospital, and caring for patients, with goals of quality and cost efficiency.
•    Communicates with staff, physicians and AVP on administrative issues and follows-up to assure resolution to such issues.
•    Operates within parameters established by AVP of Procedural Services.
•    Assists AVP to assure adequate numbers of staff on a daily basis.
•    Assumes a leadership role in the maintenance of the patient-focused care delivery system.
•    Supports the multi-skilled worker environment (i.e., cross training).
•    Assists staff in problem-solving and work issues.
•    Assists in recruiting competent staff.
•    Responds to issues of harassment and discrimination per company policy.
•    Delegates appropriately to licensed and non-licensed staff in accordance with job descriptions, license requirements, and standards of practice.
•    Utilizes resources in an efficient and cost effective manner.
•    Participates in peer review.
•    Participates in developing other staff and affiliating students.
•    Maintains and develops own professional competencies.
•    Maintains and promotes a team spirit through active cooperation and collaboration.
•    Assists in interdepartmental service coordination.
•    Actively participates in the Performance Improvement and Utilization Review program.
•    Assists in directing and guiding staff in the coordination of unit operations.
•    Supports the multi-skilled worker environment (i.e., cross training).

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program, or accredited radiology technician program.
  • Registered Nurse with current state licensure, or Radiology Technician with current American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) and Louisiana State Radiologic Technology (LSRT) Board certifications, or Registered Cardiovascular Imaging Specialist (RCIS)
  • Current BLS certification
  • ACLS certification required within 6 months of employment for registered nurses
