Position Overview:
AIDT under Management Technology provides consistent, trusted and integrated business information across all platforms and delivery channels within Morgan Stanley Wealth Management (MSWM) businesses.
Management Service Support provides timely and efficient delivery of feeds to its clients and vendors, the feeds are required by the compliance and FA for analysis and advisory purposes.
Roles and Responsibilities
As an TeraData, Java developer, the candidate is expected to Design and development of ETL and Hadoop applications. Undertaking end-to-end project delivery (from inception to post-implementation support), including review and finalization of business requirements, creation of functional specifications and/or system designs, and ensuring that end-solution meets business needs and expectations. Development of new transformation processes to load data from source to target, or performance tuning of existing Java code (mappings, sessions) and TeraData. Analysis of existing designs and interfaces and applying design modifications or enhancements Coding and documenting data processing scripts and stored procedures. Providing business insights and analysis findings for ad-hoc data requests Testing software components and complete solutions (including debugging and troubleshooting) and preparing migration documentation. Providing reporting-line transparency through periodic updates on project or task status
Business justification for the positions below:
The position involves development and fixes of production defects, performance analytics, data analytics, resource utilization analysis (CPU and Memory) and Optimizations, relevant to technologies TeraData, Java, SQL, program optimization requires in depth analysis of the code behavior to reduce the processing time of the job, reduce memory usage, left shift of Batch, compliance and defensive coding fixes and identify memory leaks. The A&DT Batch Optimization squad operates on agile model, representing WMT Batch Transformation squad, from A&DT. On an average 50 - 60 Defects / Design / Optimization / JIRAs are completed per year, adding a great value of Left Shift on Batch and Maintain Business Ready state of Firm by 7:00 A.M ET.
Details about the main activities of the resource :
The main activities of the candidate would attend work on Production Batch Jobs to optimize to save Processing time (Left Shift), to turn Ready for Business on time. The Optimization efforts involve Data Analysis, Design Review, Code Fixes, Performance Parameter Optimization research Analysis, Behavior Analysis that focus to reduce Memory Utilization (Hard Disk, RAM), CPU Utilization, so the jobs are not running long. Additionally migrating Timer jobs to File poler jobs and deprioritizing jobs to non critical path. These optimizations are requested by WMT Batch Transformation squad to A&DT, for which resolution needs to be provided, on timely manner.

The Current Situation is team requires the member in order to maintain Batch Business Ready, left shift on critical batch jobs Optimizations are key functional Stability and User Experience can be compensated, with WMT Batch Transformation squad Defects / Optimization efforts are not met effectively

The unique skill of the resource is adaptability to different technologies on need, versatile and flexible to work demands, combination of technologies like Java and Teradata, would be considered as unique skill of resource.
The importance in the team :
The Elite team was build for to improve Stability and Mitigate Risk on the Production Batch Optimization and Defect fixes, the position has a key role to play in the team, making it inevitable to avoid trade off in Stability, Risk Mitigation and enabling, on time Business star Primary Skills / Must have
3-5 years of experience with the technical analysis and design, development and implementation of Java and TeraData;
Well versed and Hand-on in TeraData, Java, Unix, Shell Scripting and SQL.
Strong UNIX Shell scripting experience to support data warehousing solutions; Process oriented, focused on standardization, streamlining, and implementation of best practices delivery approach; Excellent problem solving and analytical skills; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Experience in optimizing large data loads; Secondary Skills / Desired skills
Should be a good Team player; Experience in OLAP/Relational databases would be good. Exposure to an Agile Development environment would be a plus. Knowledge about TWS Scheduler would an added advantage; Strong understanding of Data warehousing domain; Ability to architect an ETL solution and data conversion strategy; Good understanding of dimensional modelling;
