About the role
We are looking for a part-time Commis Chef, Pastry to join our Kitchen Brigade! Join our pastry team supporting the Eight Restaurant, Chandelier Lounge and Banquets. You’ll help with bulk production for multiple outlets and step onto our interactive buffet to prepare and finish desserts in front of guests pairing solid kitchen skills with great guest interaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with prep, production and plating of pastry items to brand standards.
- Support the Demi Chef and Chef de Partie with day-to-day service.
- Work the interactive buffet, finishing desserts live for guests.
- Maintain a clean, safe, organised section; follow HACCP/food safety.
- Complete mise en place, stock rotation, and basic ordering/receiving as directed.
- Help manage timing on the pass to keep service smooth and consistent.
- Take pride in presentation and create small “wow” moments through quality and detail.
Skills & Experience
- Chef/Pâtisserie qualification (required).
- Current food hygiene certificate.
- Experience in a professional pastry kitchen (hotel experience a plus; internship acceptable).
- Strong attention to detail; neat, organised work habits.
- Clear communicator and team player who handles a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Self-motivated, disciplined, and genuinely passionate about pastry.
- Flexible availability across a 7-day rotating roster (early mornings and evenings).
