The Commerce + Ecosystem (CCE) Engineering team is hiring a Software Engineer II to build core technologies and intelligent experiences that directly impact Microsoft's global support and commerce operations. You will lead the design and development of secure, scalable, and intelligent platforms—infusing AI, agentic workflows, and automation to empower Microsoft advocates, partners, and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop large-scale distributed software services and solutions.
  • Knowledge of how products and services work, with a history of developing, deploying and evolving products in a dev-ops managed production environment.
  • Carry out quick technology “spikes” (or proofs of concepts, flighting) to create value in new features and service.
  • Working in an agile and collaborative environment, you will interact with many of the other commerce partner teams to build cross service integrations.
  • Clear and effective communication skills, when you write code, send emails, or explain complex technical issues to non-technical co-workers.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, .NET, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience as a software engineer building commercial software and proven track record of shipping successful software products & services.
  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience designing end user applications that are built using modern web-based technologies centered around user experience.
  • 2+ years of experience driving, managing technical and architectural dependencies with proficiency in C#, .NET, JavaScript, or equivalent languages/frameworks.

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience driving, managing technical and architectural dependencies with proficiency in C#, .NET, JavaScript, or equivalent languages/frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience in app development using ASP.NET, Azure PaaS services like Web apps, Function Apps, Service Bus, Event Hub, REST API, SQL and NoSQL.
  • Experience with software development tools such as source control systems (GIT), automated build systems (CICD), software validation systems, project tracking, and lifecycle management systems.
  • Development experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, Expertise in REACT, Node.js. 

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
