Microsoft Cloud Planning (MCP) is the central planning function within CSCP focused on forecasting, demand planning, and supply planning for all Microsoft Cloud services and associated hardware, directly impacting the success of Microsoft's cloud business.

Responsibilities

The person in this role will operate as a subject matter expert across the server forecasting and planning space, encompassing all Azure products (compute, storage, and first party / data). This individual will partner closely with both the forecasters and planners on the team, as well as partners outside of the team, to ensure that the team is producing high-quality forecasts and plans that meet the needs of our partners. A successful candidate for this role will leverage their analytical, leadership, and communication skills to deliver innovative solutions that will transform the way our customers interact with our products. This includes:

  • Operate as the forecasting & planning lead for large, multi-team projects that are mission-critical and/or cross product lines
  • Serve as the primary focal point with partner teams (including engineering, data science, & product groups) for strategic questions related to the team's forecasts and the forecasting process; capacity planning processes
  • Act as a liaison between forecasters & planners within the team and partner groups outside of the team
  • Work with and provide feedback to data science teams regarding the implementation of new forecasting models, in collaboration with other forecasters
  • Collaborate with engineering and data science teams to enable forecasting & planning tooling and automation
  • Mentor and function as an SME consultant to forecasters and planners on the team

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
  • 3+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 5+ years of experience in demand forecasting or capacity planning in Cloud and/or high-tech hardware supply chain. 
  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading cross-functional processes / programs with key stakeholders, e.g., Product, Finance, Engineering, Operations, Supply Planning.  
  • Hands-on leadership experience moving fluidly from long-term strategy to day-to-day tactical implementation.  
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously.  
  • Ability to lead in ambiguous situations and deal effectively with conflicting priorities and changes.  
  • Ability to get the best out of others.
  • Proficient in business presentation tools (e.g., word, power point, excel); able to generate and/or mentor others to produce high-quality outputs. 
  • Proficiency in Enterprise Planning systems (such as SAP, Oracle, E2Open, etc.) and business intelligence engines (SQL, Power BI, Power Pivot, Tableau, etc.).
  • Proficiency in data science/forecast modeling.
  • MS in Data Science or Industrial Engineering.
 

Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
