Job Title: HSE Systems & Governance Manager

Department: Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Systems & Governance

Location: Flexible

Salary: Up to £45,000 + Benefits (dependant on experience)

Closing Date: Sunday 5th October 2025

We believe that our strength is not just in our steel but the diversity of our workforce. Our people make the difference.

Help us raise the bar for Health, Safety & Environment across Tata Steel UK (TSUK)

As our HSE Systems and Governance Manager, you will shape how we manage, measure, report and continually improve HSE performance across our UK operations, maintaining our ISO 14001 management system and leading the ongoing deployment of ISO 45001 management system, ensuring robust governance at every step, analysing performance data to drive continuous improvement, coordinating reporting and audits, and fostering a strong HSE culture throughout the organisation.

What you will do

Through line managing a team HSE Systems & Governance specialists and analysts, you will own HSE reporting across TSUK, turning data into clear insights for leaders and regulators while keeping our ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systems in good shape. You will lead and improve key reporting systems - incident reporting, document control, COSHH, environmental complaints and SharePoint - and manage controlled change so improvements stick.

Working with subject matter experts, you will develop and deploy TSUK HSE Standards and support the annual planning cycle and roadmap. You will also run the internal and external audit programme, coordinate content for HSE governance meetings, and make sure our Monitoring, Control and Reporting System aligns with wider business processes.

What you will need

You’ve got hands-on experience managing HSE systems aligned with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards - ideally within a manufacturing setting. You’re analytical, detail-oriented, and a confident communicator, both in writing and face-to-face. You know how to build strong relationships and influence people at all levels, including colleagues, regulators, and certification bodies.

You’re someone who makes sound decisions, follows through on commitments, and consistently meets deadlines. A degree (or equivalent) is expected, and we’d love to see professional qualifications such as the Institute of Sustainability and Environmental Professionals (ISEP) Certificate in Environmental Management, NEBOSH Certificate, or Lead Auditor training for ISO 14001 or ISO 45001
