Role And Accountabilities:
A ServiceNow HAM and SAM Consultant is responsible for implementing and optimizing hardware and software asset management solutions using the ServiceNow platform. Key tasks include gathering client requirements, configuring HAM and SAM Pro modules, integrating with discovery and inventory tools, and ensuring data accuracy across the CMDB. The consultant develops asset lifecycle workflows, monitors software license compliance, and provides recommendations for cost optimization. They also lead workshops, train stakeholders, and align ITAM processes with industry standards like ITIL. This role ensures clients achieve full visibility and control over their IT assets while maximizing ROI and maintaining compliance.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in ServiceNow HAM and SAM capabilities and best practices.
- Lead client workshops to gather business and technical requirements for HAM and SAM solutions.
- Design end-to-end asset management processes covering procurement, deployment, usage tracking, reclamation, and retirement.
- Configure and implement ServiceNow HAM and SAM Pro modules including Discovery, Normalization, Reconciliation, and License Compliance Management.
- Integrate ServiceNow with third-party systems such as SCCM, Tanium, Flexera, JAMF, Snow, or other inventory and procurement platforms.
- Perform license optimization analysis and provide strategic guidance on software compliance and cost-saving opportunities.
- Create reports, dashboards, KPIs, and custom workflows to support client asset management objectives.
- Guide clients through ServiceNow implementation lifecycles, upgrades, and enhancements.
- Train and mentor end-users and administrators on ITAM practices and ServiceNow usage.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across IT, Procurement, Security, and Compliance to ensure alignment of asset data and processes.
Qualifications
Skills And Experience Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience working with ServiceNow, including at least 2+ years specifically with HAM and/or SAM Pro modules.
- Demonstrated experience implementing or consulting on HAM and SAM processes in enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of ITAM frameworks and software licensing models (Microsoft, Oracle, Adobe, IBM, etc.).
- Experience with CMDB, ServiceNow Discovery, and integrations with inventory systems.
- Proficient in ServiceNow platform configuration, scripting (JavaScript), and REST/SOAP integrations.
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) required.
- ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist in SAM and/or HAM is highly preferred.
