Permanent, full time, 73.5 hours per fortnight
Duties
- Lead a program of legislative review and development, with an initial priority focus on the Fire Service Act 1979, but potentially including other legislative priorities as they emerge.
- Undertake complex strategy and policy and program development and management across the Department’s breadth of work, supported by relevant research, investigation and analysis.
- Represent the agency as required and deliver timely, relevant and authoritative policy and project advice on matters of strategic priority to the Department.
- Plan and manage the delivery of projects using appropriate governance, management tools and techniques to ensure milestones are achieved and outcomes delivered on time and within resource constraints.
- Prepare official correspondence, including: minutes, briefing papers, reports and legislative materials and packages as required to manage the role’s allocated tasks or as directed.
- Establish and build productive working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective engagement, and where relevant, that consultative processes and objectives are achieved within time constraints.
- Allocate and monitor the work undertaken by direct reports and/or project team members, ensuring that expectations are clear with regard to the proposed tasks, agreed standards of delivery, timelines and expected outcomes.
- In conjunction with the broader team, actively engage and contribute to the development of policy initiatives, project management and business practices that enhance the quality of the Division’s outputs. This is facilitated through participating in team discussions, networking and contributing ideas for improving work approaches consistent with the Division’s objectives.

- Deception (e.g. obtaining an advantage by deception);
- Making false declarations;
- Violent crimes and crimes against the person;
- Malicious damage and destruction to property
- Trafficking of narcotic substance;
- False alarm raising.
Desirable Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in relevant field/discipline.
