Job Summary: The Postdoctoral Fellow provides for an internship and continuation of scholarly activity and research after achieving the PhD or other doctoral degree under the direction of a senior faculty member who serves as a mentor for the postdoctoral appointee.

Additional Department Summary: The University of Alabama seeks applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow position with research interest. Individuals holding these positions are to conduct research with various faculty members on a variety of projects.

Successful candidates will hold terminal degrees and demonstrate a record of academic achievement in a research area(s) covered by the college. The college and or hiring department will establish a series of structured merit-based evaluations. Initial appointments are for one year, with renewal contingent upon demonstration of research productivity.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Doctorate. Additional qualifications based on assignment.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: PhD in Biology, Evolution, or a related field.

Skills and Knowledge: Ability to lead projects and collaborate effectively with people.

Preferred Qualifications: Publication track record that focuses on genomics, preferably within neuroscience and performing neurogenetics research and experience using a multi-photon imaging system. Background and research interests in neurodegeneration, comparative genomics, next gen sequencing, transcriptomics and metagenomics. Experience in RNA sequencing (bulk and/or single-cell).
