- Temporary (Up to30 June 2027) full-time (35 hours per week) opportunity
- Office location is Queanbeyan - Hybrid working is supported but at least three days attendance in Queanbeyan office is mandatory.
- Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $152,677 to $167,562 + super
Our South East Ecosystems and Threatened Species Team is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Team Leader to lead a team responsible for delivering conservation projects for threatened species and communities across the region. The role includes fostering partnerships and influencing stakeholders including community groups, non-government organisations, and government agencies while also supporting the Department in developing, evaluating, and prioritising future state wide initiatives.
Your role will be to lead and support a team of experienced and motivated conservation biologists in delivering priority threatened species and threatened community projects. The role will be based in the Queanbeyan DCCEEW office and essential travel will be expected to work directly with staff and stakeholders.
About You
To be successful, you will need technical expertise and extensive experience in threatened species conservation. You will also need experience in leading a multidisciplinary team to deliver strategic regional biodiversity conservation programs, ensuring effective implementation of priority actions as well as overseeing project management, resource allocation, and program evaluation to support fiscal responsibility and continuous improvement. Additionally, you will have experience in collaborating with stakeholders including councils, NGOs, landowners, and communities to promote and gain support for conservation initiatives.
Key knowledge and experience
- Superior knowledge of the operational and strategic requirements for the successful delivery of a range of biodiversity conservation programs.
- High level experience in developing, implementing and monitoring strategic and operational plans for the delivery of complex programs, with a demonstrated track record of providing direction and achieving results through multidisciplinary teams.
Essential Requirements
- A tertiary qualification in environmental science or equivalent field.
- A manual Class C Driver’s Licence
