The Assistant Director provides leadership and operational oversight for Faculty Load and Compensation (FLAC) and course scheduling. This role is critical to ensuring accurate and timely compensation for faculty and instructors through effective contract management and a deep understanding of the FLAC Handbook, college and system-level pay processes, and scheduling rules. The Assistant Director works closely with academic divisions, Human Resource Services, Financial Services, and system-wide partners to streamline, standardize, and strengthen compensation and scheduling processes that support the college’s mission. This position also serves as a liaison to the Colorado Community College System (CCCS), participating in collaborative groups across all thirteen colleges to promote equitable pay practices and ensure alignment with system policies and guidelines. In addition to faculty compensation and scheduling, this position supports internal controls through the development of reconciliation processes and audit management practices to ensure data integrity and compliance with system, college and regulatory standards.
The college offers the possibility for alternative work arrangements such as flexplace, remote work, or flextime scheduling upon completion of training and department needs.
Minimum Qualifications
- Completed bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Two or more years' experience leading cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated experience in academic operations, data management, project management, or change management.
- Demonstrated experience developing audit protocols, quality assurance or reconciliation systems in an academic or financial context.
- Demonstrated proficiency in advanced Microsoft Excel functions, including but not limited to pivot tables, VLOOKUP, conditional formatting, data validation, complex formulas, and basic macros.
- Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills with a track record of leading successful initiatives.
Professional level experience is defined by the Colorado Division of Human Resources: A position that involves the exercise of discretion, analytical skill, judgment, personal accountability, and responsibility for creating, developing, integrating, applying, or sharing an organized body of knowledge. Colorado revised statute (C.R.S. 24-50-135(1) allows colleges to exempt positions from the State Personnel Classified System that are determined to be professional level work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completed master’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Experience using Banner or other higher education CRM.
- Experience using Ad Astra or similar scheduling systems.
- Two or more years of direct supervisory experience.
- Two or more years of higher education experience.

Essential Functions
Faculty Load and Compensation (FLAC)
- Oversee and manage the faculty contract generation process in FLAC, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of faculty and instructor compensation.
- Interpret and apply FLAC Handbook guidelines, CCCS compensation rules, State Board Policies, and college Educational Procedures to ensure contract compliance.
- Monitor and analyze Banner and FLAC data to identify and address missing or incomplete contracts and approvals.
- Develop and maintain a reconciliation process to ensure consistency and accuracy between course assignments, contract data, and payroll outcomes.
- Conduct internal audits of FLAC records and processes to identify discrepancies, ensure compliance, support transparency and improve accuracy.
- Collaborate with Payroll and academic divisions to resolve compensation related issues.
Course Scheduling
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance student retention and completion through accessible, conflict-minimized scheduling strategies.
- Coordinate academic course scheduling using Ad Astra software in alignment with college policies, classroom capacity, and instructional needs.
- Work closely with academic divisions to ensure courses are scheduled in appropriate instructional spaces using the correct schedule type and follow the established scheduling grid.
- Build and maintain course schedule data in a way that supports accurate compensation and compliance with Banner FLAC integration.
- Lead scheduling process and maintain oversight of administrative workflows, including tracking and managing Adobe Forms submissions to ensure timely and accurate completion.
Supervision and Team Leadership
- Provide direct supervision, guidance, and support to FLAC team members.
- Foster a culture of high performance, accountability, and excellent service delivery.
- Train and mentor staff on academic operations systems, scheduling protocols, compensation procedures, and college policies.
- Engage in team-building efforts and promote collaborative, cross-departmental relationships across the college.
