 A mechanical engineering role focused on driving flexible product development and managing design refinements that lead to world-class results. This position develops highly customized medical seating products that move efficiently from concept to production, ensuring they are ready for smooth, repeatable manufacturing. 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop families of highly customizable medical seating from concept to approved prototypes and released design drawings and qualified products.
  • Learn and apply design rules for best-in-class medical seating comfort and functionality.
  • Develop familiarity with existing supplier and factory capabilities and materials.
  • Hands-on development of prototypes, creation of 3D and 2D CAD Design Packages.
  • Perform product improvement projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or equivalent relevant work experience in engineered textiles.
  • Design of foam components and upholstery/engineered textiles, a must have.
  • Design of wooden frame assemblies, familiarity with CNC equipment and adhesives technology.
  • 3+ years’ minimum experience with a successful track record of on-time launches of best-in-class products, components or mechanisms.
  • 2+ years’ experience in Solidworks 3D CAD.

Requirements

  • Upholstery experience of soft seating (chairs and sofas).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite, Rhinoceros, and Inventor.
  • Experience with design of plastic injection molded components and metal fabrications.
  • Mechanism Design, Tolerance Analysis, Rapid Prototyping.
  • Experience with Solidworks Simulation or other FEA packages is a huge plus.
  • Design for Manufacture and Assembly, Design for Environment, PPAP, Six Sigma, Poka Yoke.
  • Experience with EPDM (Solidworks) and ASME Y14.5 M desired.
  • Knowledge of 21CFR 820 and ISO 13485:2016
