Lead Direct Support Professional for 3 Bed PCA
Grand Junction, Co
- One Full-Time Position. 40 hours per week.
- Sunday through Saturday. Days, evenings, and overnights.
- Hiring Range: $17.33 - $18.89 / hr., depending upon education and experience.
Minimum Requirements
Required:
- High School graduation or equivalent, minimum age 18.
- At least one year working for Ariel or in another Human Service-related program.
Preferred:
- Current experience working in a residential program.
- Two years experience w/I/DD population
- Minimum of one year successful experience in supervision.
- 6 Months of experience providing total care to individuals.

Position Summary
This position is responsible for the daily operations of the personal care alternatives program.
Ariel Clinical Services Mission
To provide safe, nurturing, and supportive environments for children, families, and adults so that they may have the opportunities to develop their strengths, maximize their potentials and fully participate in society.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- This position is involved in supporting the strategic direction of the department and providing leadership and instruction so others in the program can complete tasks quickly and effectively.
- Effectively and positively build trust and represent the Supervisor and the Program to the employees, individuals, and community.
- With accuracy and attention to detail, assist in making the daily schedule and adjustments as necessary while ensuring fair and equitable assignments and rotations.
- Create a monthly calendar of activities.
- Mentor and train new staff.
- Positively represent Ariel during Interdisciplinary Team meetings, service plan meetings and other meetings when requested by supervisor.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with parents, guardians and all other team members involved with individuals in service.
- Ensure required documentation is completed daily. Create and monitor weekly menus for residents being served.
- Ensure all month-end activities are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Ensure persons receiving services attend appointments as scheduled and needed.
Requirements
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Skilled in providing person centered services and supports.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism in matters related to Ariel.
- Elevated knowledge of Therap functions.
- Knowledge of community resources and how to access them.
- Knowledge of rules and regulations related to residential program daily operations.
- Knowledge of basic computer technology.
- Knowledge of the type of work that Ariel and other service agencies participate in.
- Skilled in organizing workflow and prioritizing tasks, and directing others as needed.
- Skilled at working independently, as well as in a team.
- Ability to quickly establish rapport and effectively mentor and coach coworkers.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Will give input to performance reviews, program practices and outcomes, training needs, etc. Will provide on-the-job training and performance coaching.
Physical Demands
- This position requires that the incumbent be capable of bending, sitting, stretching, and/or reaching regularly for periods up to two hours without a break.
- This position requires that the incumbent have adequate hand and finger dexterity to properly perform the functions of the position.
- This position requires lifting regularly up to 25 pounds and pulling or pushing persons in wheelchairs. Must be able and willing to transfer persons weighing more than 50 pounds to and from wheelchairs with assistance from another staff member.
- At times, physical interventions may be required.
- This position requires the ability to hear, see, smell, and distinguish temperature, at a level which is adequate to ensure client and staff health and safety. Adaptive devices are acceptable.
- This position will require daily driving of up to one hour per day and occasionally as needed.
- This position can and will be exposed to all environments from quiet to noisy, climate controlled to extreme outdoor heat and cold.
- May work in the community or in family home environments.
- Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious disease is possible, but limited.
- Exposure to hazardous chemicals is possible, but limited.
