Regco Roles:

Sustainability Development Office

Brief Overview:

The Sustainable Development Office coordinates regulatory efforts to promote the availability of corporate sustainability disclosures to investors and other stakeholders in a comparable and trusted manner and implements initiatives to advance the sustainability performance of listed issuers. The team also participates in standards-setting projects and builds awareness and capability within the ecosystem.

Learning Objectives:

  • An opportunity to be at the forefront of regulatory developments and to shape the landscape on corporate sustainability reporting disclosures and the sustainable performance of listed issuers.
  • Learn how global sustainability frameworks are applied in regulatory settings and market disclosures.
  • Support research into international sustainability taxonomies, sustainability standards; and disclosure practices.
  • Acquire skillsets in analysing and reviewing proposals in relation to regulatory rules.
  • Assist in preparing materials for industry briefings, working groups, and engagements with regulators, issuers, and investors.
  • Work alongside teams across SGX Group and external partners on sustainability initiatives.
  • Contribute to projects that build a climate-resilient financial ecosystem.
  • Gain insight into how exchanges and regulators drive sustainable capital markets, with mentorship from experienced professionals.
  • A strong foundation for future careers in ESG, public policy, finance, or corporate sustainability.

Job Description:

This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in ESG policy, sustainable finance, and stakeholder engagement within a regulatory environment.

  • Conduct research and benchmarking on the global sustainability landscape (eg. updates on global frameworks, standards, jurisdictional initiatives), sustainability trends and issues.
  • Assist in reviewing proposals for regulatory rule changes to align with global developments.
  • Help prepare materials for industry briefings, working groups and engagements with regulators, issuers and investors.
  • Develop action plans to support sustainability-related capacity-building efforts for listed companies.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders across multi-disciplinary teams on sustainability-related projects and initiatives
  • Help coordinate cross-functional initiatives within SGX Group and external partners.
  • Maintain a database of sustainability trends and contribute to regulatory communications and insights.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to strategic planning discussions.

Knowledge And Skills Requirements:

  • Undergraduate studies in sustainability, public policy, finance, economics, environmental science or related fields.
  • Passionate about sustainability, climate action and shaping the future of capital markets.
  • Comfortable working with data and policy documents to draw insights and recommendations.
  • Ability to clean, structure and manage datasets.
  • Ability to synthesise complex information and communicate clearly in written materials.
  • Proactive and adaptable with a willingness to work across teams and engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong event management and project management skills.
  • Confident in presenting ideas and engaging in discussions with internal and external partners.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, such as MS PowerPoint, MS Excel and MS Word.
