The Manager, HR is a hands-on leader responsible for optimising HR operational processes, managing all employee life cycle events, and leveraging data-driven insights to enhance workforce strategies. This role focuses on streamlining workflows, maintaining compliance, developing and maintaining policies, managing HR systems, and ensuring the organisation offers competitive and equitable compensation and benefits packages. The ideal candidate is passionate about creating efficient, employee-centric processes and translating data into actionable insights that align with organisational goals.

Employment Relations:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Advise managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and employment law to ensure fair and consistent practices.
  • Lead investigations into employee complaints, grievances, and disciplinary matters, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Develop and implement strategies to foster a positive workplace culture and improve employee engagement.
  • Manage conflict resolution processes, including mediation and facilitation of difficult conversations.
  • Ensure compliance with UK employment legislation and internal policies, keeping abreast of changes and advising leadership accordingly.
  • Support organisational change initiatives by managing the people impact and ensuring clear communication and consultation.
  • Collaborate with legal counsel when necessary to mitigate risk and ensure appropriate handling of complex cases.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of employee relations cases and outcomes.
  • Provide training and coaching to line managers on handling employee relations issues effectively.

Hr Operations:

  • Oversee and improve core HR processes and employee life cycle events, including onboarding, offboarding, payroll administration, benefits management, policy maintenance and development, compensation management and compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable labour laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Manage and maintain HR policies, procedures, and guidelines to support a consistent employee experience.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive efficiency in People and Culture operations.

Payroll (Working Alongside Payroll Generalist)

  • Provide direction for payroll operations across the organisation.
  • Ensure payroll aligns with broader HR and financial strategies, including reward, benefits, and compliance.
  • Ensure payroll processes comply with local UK legislation, government HMRC regulations (HMRC, NRA, etc), and internal audit requirements.
  • Act as the escalation point for complex payroll issues, risk management, and regulatory changes.
  • Collaborate with Finance, HR, Legal, and external providers to ensure seamless payroll delivery.
  • Manage relationships with external payroll providers and ensure service level agreements are met.

Policy Development And Implementation:

  • Develop, implement, and regularly update HR policies and procedures to align with organisational goals, legal requirements, and best practices.
  • Partner with leadership to create policies that foster a positive, inclusive, and compliant workplace culture.
  • Ensure policies are clearly communicated to employees through training, guides, and internal communications.

Hr Systems And Data Management:

  • Serve as the primary administrator for HR systems (e.g., HRIS, ATS, LMS), ensuring accurate data entry, system optimisation, and troubleshooting.
  • Design and manage reporting dashboards to monitor key HR metrics such as headcount, turnover, employee engagement, DEI progress, and compensation analysis.
  • Partner with IT and external vendors to maintain data integrity and system updates.
  • Analyse workforce data and trends, providing insights to leadership to drive decision-making.
