The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Associate Vice-President, Central Overlay Group, the Senior Analyst, Central Overlay Group will be primarily responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Wellington-Altus Private Wealth (WAPW) managed products including its Private Platinum Portfolios. The role will encompass monitoring, trading and reconciliation of the program, including new accounts, cash management and periodic rebalancing. The Senior Analyst, Central Overlay Group is responsible for carrying out all activities in an efficient, effective and accurate manner and will involve close communication with internal Portfolio Managers, Sub-Advisors, Investment Advisors, Operations, Strategic Counterparties - NBIN, external Service Providers, and Compliance. In addition, also participate in the building out and enhancement of the Wellington-Altus trading platform - Envestnet

The Senior Analyst, Central Overlay Group, will support various other operational processes and functions with system utilization, trouble shooting and working with the support, reconciliation and account opening teams in defining processes and best practices. The incumbent will support the department AVP and SVP, in the coordination of projects, initiatives, and activities established as a priority for the business while collaborating, paying attention to detail, prioritizing competing demands in a fast-paced energetic environment.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Collaboratively working with key stakeholders across the business to understand and document the key processes and workflows for trade order management/execution within the managed account business lines and determining changes and modifications as may be required from time to time to support the evolution of these delivery channels.
  • Participating as a subject matter expert (SME) on project management initiatives to implement changes and improvements to the managed account modelling/trade execution ecosystem.
  • Daily order management of WAPW Managed Account solutions.
  • Developing and executing portfolio management activities that include onboarding, rebalancing requests, cash management and handling special situations.
  • Daily trading of bonds, preferred shares, ETFs, mutual funds, REITs, and common shares working with the various trade desks and external parties to ensure effective, efficient and accurate execution.
  • Managing bulk equity allocations in adherence with the firm’s Fair Allocation of Trades policy.
  • Supporting the trade reconciliation process and working in conjunction with trade support and system analysts to ensure an effective recon process for all trade breaks and failures.
  • Serving as a SME on the effective use and application of the portfolio modelling and trading systems utilized across the enterprise.
  • Engaging with advisors and advisory team members and with operations support teams to ensure client trading activities and trading needs are effectively handled.
  • Interacting with the Operations team and mid-office support team on trade reconciliations as necessary.
  • Generating and executing equity, mutual fund, and fixed income orders in a timely manner in accordance with portfolios mandates, models, trading policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Providing technical support on investment and trading concepts to advisors and other client-facing groups.
  • Providing support for new account setup and activation within the managed account platform as well as account terminations.
  • Monitoring and escalating with custodian for account status.
  • Managed account cash management support including systematic plan set up/monitoring, ad hoc requests etc.
  • Working alongside other members of the COG team and operations to respond to advisor and client queries and participate in new product launches.
  • Building relationships and partner with other internal and external stakeholders to support the Managed Accounts business.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:

  • A bachelor’s degree or a diploma in business administration, finance, or similar field of study, or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in separately managed accounts, modelling, mass rebalancing, bulk order generation, and order allocation.
  • A CFA candidate or completion of CIM is considered an asset
  • Previous experience within CIRO or CSA registration is an asset
  • Proficiency with the MSOffice suite, including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Experience with Portfolio Management platforms such as Envestnet, W360, Charles River, Advent/Genesis, NDEX, D1G1T required.
  • Keen client services focus, an outgoing and engaging personality and a strong desire to support a software user-base of financial industry professionals.
  • Strong communications skills, including the ability to engage with Advisors and their teams to understand their business and operational requirements.
  • Excellent understanding of investment management concepts, including trading, portfolio/model construction, business practices.
  • Solid technical background along with experience with investment management software.
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Analytical and logical thinker with the ability to assess, diagnose and solution problems.
  • Ability to independently prioritize and accomplish tasks with minimal supervision.
  • A high level of professionalism and client/advisor centric mentality.

Conditions Of Employment:

  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Must be able to travel within Canada up to 0-5% of the time.
