Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
Job Description
Senior Financial Analyst, Accounting and Reporting, participates in the day-to-day operations of the Film Headquarters Controllership team, and will assist in a wide range of accounting, finance and consolidation matters for the Filmed Entertainment Segment, including supporting financial reporting obligations to NBCUniversal Corporate, Comcast and external parties. The role is in a fast-paced headquarters environment, interfaces with teams domestically and internationally, and has opportunities for growth.
This role will report to the Manager, Accounting and Reporting Film & TV Costs, while working closely with the Business Process Outsourcing provider and the broader Film Controllership and FP&A teams.
Essential Responsibilities
Operational:
- Key contributor to the monthly and quarter close process including posting journal entries, preparing account reconciliations, rollforwards, and investigating variances to prior periods, with oversight of a $3B global Film Cost asset balance.
- Assist and review journal entries and supporting schedules prepared by BPO.
- Work with the business to prepare and submit reporting data to corporate to support external financial reporting requirements
- Work with Production Finance teams to assess projects in production and development.
- Collaborate with FP&A to review amortization and analyze impact associated with changes in ultimates.
- Assist with policy-setting and accounting memos, performing accounting research as necessary.
- Prepare and present quarterly Balance Sheet review packet to Film’s SVP Global Controller and CFOs of Studios Group and UFEG.
- Participate and collaborate on corporate driven initiatives and process change across the business unit, including special projects.
- Identify and implement Film HQ process improvement initiatives and opportunities to build efficiencies into existing accounting and reporting processes.
- Collaborate with broader Studios groups on benchmarking of processes and identification of best practices.
- Assist with ad-hoc projects as needed.
- Participate in annual SOX 404 certification and audits.

- Develop and maintain productive working relationships with cross-functional finance teams.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum of 2+ years of accounting-related experience
- CPA or on path to obtaining CPA license preferred
- Microsoft Suites skills are essential, including strong/exceptional Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables and v-lookup) and comfortability with Word and PowerPoint
- Experience with SAP and AoE preferred

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
