Job Summary:

The Safety Management System (SMS) Manager reports to the Director of Customer Service Quality and has overall responsibility for the continued development, implementation and administration of the company SMS in compliance with established company, regulatory and industry standards. The SMS Manager acts as the primary reference point for safety management issues in the organization and as the primary interface with Dassault Corporate SMS compliance personnel.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Four year college degree in Aviation Safety Management or related field
  • Full-time experience in aviation safety in the capacity of an aviation safety investigator, safety/quality manager or safety risk manager
  • Broad aviation technical knowledge
  • An extensive knowledge of Safety Management Systems
  • A comprehensive understanding of risk management principles and techniques to support the SMS
  • Experience implementing and/or managing an SMS
  • Experience and qualifications in aviation accident/incident investigation and human factors
  • Experience and qualifications in conducting safety/quality audits and inspections
  • Sound knowledge of aviation regulatory frameworks, including FAA, EASA, ICAO Standards, recommended practices and relevant civil aviation regulations
  • The ability to communicate professionally at all levels both inside and outside of the company
  • The ability to be firm in conviction, promote a “just and fair culture” and advance an open and non- punitive atmosphere for reporting safety issues
  • The ability and confidence to communicate directly to the accountable executive as his/her advisor and confidante
  • Well-developed communication skills, interpersonal skills of a high order, and the ability to interact with individuals and organizational representatives, including those from differing cultural backgrounds
  • Computer literacy, proficient in Office 360
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Valid passport

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Has completed formal SMS training
  • NBAA, IATA (or similar) Safety Manager Certificate
  • NTSB Safety Investigator Training
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant License
  • Bilingual Portuguese, French

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment (primary), exposure to hangar and warehouse environments
  • Possible extended hours with domestic and international travel related to job duties.
  • Professional interaction with employees, customers, vendors, and airworthiness authorities

Principal Duties/Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Managing the operation of the SMS program throughout the DFJ MRO and Customer Service networks
  • Collecting and analyzing safety information in a timely manner
  • Administering safety-related audits
  • Ensuring that risk assessments are conducted when applicable
  • Monitoring and evaluating the results of corrective actions
  • Developing and delivering SMS training to company personnel
  • Monitoring the industry for safety concerns that could affect the organization
  • Developing and updating of the emergency response plan and procedures
  • Facilitating actual or practice emergency responses
  • Ensuring safety-related information, including organizational goals and objectives, are made available to all personnel through established communication processes
  • Demonstrates an excellent safety behavior and attitude, follows regulatory practices and rules, recognizes and reports hazards and promotes effective safety reporting
  • Models and promotes an organizational culture that fosters safety practices through effective leadership
  • Acts as an information conduit to bring safety issues to the attention of management and to deliver safety information to the organization’s staff, contractors and stakeholders
  • Provides and articulates information regarding safety issues within the organization
  • Represents the organization on company, government, international organization and industry committees (e.g. Dassault Aviation, FAA, ICAO, IATA, etc.)

Non-Principal Duties/Responsibilities (Non-Essential Functions):

  • Effectively utilizes applicable processes and procedures to fulfill roles and responsibilities.
  • Investigates opportunities to increase the efficiency of processes.
  • Measures the effectiveness and seeks to continually improve the quality of processes.

Compensation And Benefits

The compensation for this position typically falls between $120,000 and $140,000 per year. This position is not eligible for overtime. This position may be eligible for a sign on bonus, shift differential or relocation assistance.

Note: the final compensation offered to a successful candidate will depend on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of relevant experience, Falcon-specific experience, relevant education/certifications, geographic location, and shift.
