Job Description

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Manager, Data Engineering who will be responsible for building and maintaining our data lake, ingestion and consumption data pipelines / services and facilitating the movement of large data each day. In this role, you will work directly with business teams and platform and engineering teams to ensure growth strategies at CoBank. You are an out-of-the-box, structured thinker who is passionate about building services that scale. This position plays a key role in providing the end-to-end data engineering solutions to support key business initiatives.

Essential Functions

  • Manage and lead the Data Engineering team.
  • Develop and execute the data strategy in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Ensure data governance, compliance, and security standards are met.
  • Collaborate with other departments to understand data needs and align strategies.
  • As a people manager at CoBank, you will be expected to manage and lead associates. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, associate performance management, talent strategy, workforce planning, change management, conflict resolution, and relationship management. You will drive and be accountable for the team’s development, alignment with the division’s objectives, as well as with CoBank’s strategy and mission.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field required
  • Bachelor's degree may be substituted with four years of related experience (four years is in addition to what is minimally required for the role), or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field required

Work Experience

  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in data engineering or a related field, required
  • Prior Experience leading functional work or project teams required
  • Prior Experience in leadership and team management required
  • Expertise in designing and implementing complex ETL processes.
  • Expertise with AWS development environment and services.
  • Advanced knowledge of data architecture and optimization.
  • Experience with on-premises development environments.
  • Experience building self-service tooling and platforms.
  • Built and designed Data Mesh architecture platforms.
  • A passion for building and running continuous integration pipelines.
  • Contributed to open-source projects (Ex: Operators in Airflow).
  • Strong understanding of data governance and compliance.
  • Strategic thinking and planning.

About Cobank

The typical base pay range for this role is between $158,700 - $195,200. Compensation may vary based on individual job-related knowledge, skills, expertise, and experience. This position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance.
