Purpose of the Role

The Talent Acquisition Manager will lead the end-to-end recruitment strategy for Carpenters Group, ensuring the attraction, selection, and onboarding of top talent across all business areas. 

This role will partner closely with senior stakeholders to deliver a proactive, inclusive, and high-quality recruitment service, supporting the Group’s growth and people agenda. The postholder will play a key role in shaping early careers and professional pathways, with a particular focus on legal apprenticeships and solicitor qualification routes.

  • Key Responsibilities
  • •    Develop and deliver Carpenters Group talent acquisition strategy, aligned with business objectives and values.
  • •    Lead, coach, and develop the Talent Acquisition team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
  • •    Build strong relationships with hiring managers and senior leaders to understand workforce needs and provide expert recruitment advice.
  • •    Oversee the full recruitment lifecycle, from workforce planning and job design to sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding.
  • •    Manage and deliver high-volume recruitment campaigns, ensuring quality and efficiency at scale.
  • •    Implement and champion innovative recruitment methods, including digital sourcing, social media, and talent pooling.
  • •    Drive employer branding initiatives to position Carpenters Group as an employer of choice.
  • •    Utilise data and analytics to monitor recruitment effectiveness, identify trends, and recommend improvements.
  • •    Excellent understanding of Right to Work legislation. 
  • •    Ensure a positive candidate experience at every stage of the process.
  • •    Manage relationships with external partners, including agencies and job boards, ensuring value for money and quality of service.
  • •    Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout all recruitment activities.
  • •    Ensure compliance with all relevant employment legislation and internal policies.
  • •    Advise on and manage recruitment for all solicitor qualification routes (including SQE, LPC, CILEx, and apprenticeships), ensuring the Group remains competitive and compliant.
  • •    Lead the design and delivery of apprenticeship recruitment campaigns, working closely with training providers and internal stakeholders.
  • •    Act as a subject matter expert on legal career pathways, providing guidance to candidates and managers.

Experience and Knowledge
Essential:
•    Proven experience in a senior recruitment or talent acquisition role, ideally within a professional services or legal environment.
•    Significant experience managing high-volume recruitment campaigns.
•    Demonstrated use of innovative and creative recruitment methods.
•    Extensive line management experience, with a track record of leading, developing, and motivating teams.
•    In-depth understanding of the various routes to qualify as a solicitor (e.g., SQE, LPC, CILEx, apprenticeships) and experience recruiting for these pathways.
•    Strong knowledge of apprenticeship frameworks, especially legal apprenticeships.
•    Demonstrable experience designing and delivering recruitment strategies at scale.
•    Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
•    In-depth knowledge of recruitment best practice, employment law, and market trends.
•    Data-driven approach with experience using recruitment metrics and ATS systems.
