About The Role:
We’re hiring Staff Software Engineers across multiple teams at Hims & Hers, including e-commerce systems, clinical care, pharmacy & fulfillment, and customer support. These teams build systems that power our web and mobile applications, backend platforms, and operational tooling that support our growing business.
As a Staff Engineer, you’ll lead critical initiatives across squads, owning the technical direction and delivery of scalable, reliable systems. You’ll influence architectural decisions, improve developer experience, and drive operational excellence across teams. In addition to deep technical ownership, you’ll coach engineers across squads, foster alignment in cross-functional initiatives, and shape solutions that prioritize long-term scalability and customer impact.
You Will:
- Lead cross-squad engineering initiatives to improve architecture, reduce technical debt, and increase system reliability
- Design and implement reusable frameworks, infrastructure, and services that enable teams to build efficiently and consistently
- Partner with product and engineering leadership to align technical strategy with business goals
- Set standards for code quality, testing, and documentation that scale across squads
- Drive improvements in observability, incident response, and performance optimization
- Coach and mentor engineers across teams, sharing best practices and fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement
- Facilitate technical planning, architectural reviews, and design discussions across squads
- Own critical systems or domains, ensuring long-term maintainability, performance, and team alignment
You Have:
- 8–10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant technical leadership across teams
- Expertise in one or more of the following: front-end technologies (React, TypeScript, Next.js, HTML/CSS), backend technologies (Node.js, Kotlin), or mobile development (React Native)
- Deep experience with CI/CD workflows (e.g., CircleCI, GitHub), cloud infrastructure (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes), and observability tools (e.g., Datadog)
- Proven ability to design and lead scalable, maintainable, and testable systems
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a track record of guiding cross-functional teams toward alignment
- Demonstrated ability to design for scale, anticipating future growth, complexity, and use cases
- Experience mentoring engineers and elevating engineering practices across squads
- Proven ability to break down long-term engineering goals into clear, actionable milestones for teams to execute with confidence
- A humble, empathetic approach to collaboration, fostering trust and shared ownership within and across teams
