Summary
As Group Product Operations Manager for Payroll Core & Experience, you’ll lead teams that power Deel’s payroll operations, delivering accuracy, reliability, and transparency at every scale - from SMB founders running payroll for a handful of employees to global enterprises processing tens of thousands. You will drive automation, self-service, and workflow improvements that power payroll, while making the payroll experience seamless for clients and internal stakeholders alike. This role is highly cross-functional, partnering with product, engineering, operations, and go-to-market teams to deliver enterprise-grade systems, global rollouts, and tailored experiences for SMB, Mid-Market, and Enterprise customers. Your work will directly advance Deel’s mission to make payroll scalable, compliant, and effortless worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop product operations teams across the Payroll Core and Experience verticals, ensuring alignment with company mission and quarterly OKRs.
- Drive cross-functional initiatives that improve accuracy, automation, and scalability of global payroll cycles across all engines and customer segments.
- Translate business objectives (automation, error reduction, enterprise readiness, CSAT improvement) into operational strategies, systems, and measurable outcomes.
- Partner with Product and Engineering leaders to deliver no-touch, self-service payroll features and workflows that scale from SMB to Enterprise.
- Ensure teams deliver tailored payroll experiences for key personas (SMB founders/ops, Mid-Market HR/finance, Enterprise payroll/finance), optimising workflows at each growth stage.
- Oversee the design and implementation of operational systems that reduce manual hours, streamline contract synchronisation, and improve error resolution.
- Ensure operational readiness for enterprise clients, including scaling processing capacity, reporting performance, and compliance for workforces of up to 30k employees.
- Guide teams in collecting, quantifying, and prioritising payroll-related challenges from clients, Payroll Managers, and internal stakeholders to inform product direction.
- Lead global go-to-market and rollout strategies for new payroll features, ensuring adoption, consistency, and quality across regions and customer types.
- Champion a culture of root-cause analysis and long-term solution design, enabling teams to reduce error rates and strengthen payroll reliability.
- Define, monitor, and communicate key operational metrics (automation rates, error reduction, cycle quality, CSAT), ensuring accountability and transparency.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in product operations, product management, or a closely related role bridging product, engineering, and operations.
- 2+ years of experience building and leading high-performing teams in a fast-paced, product-driven tech company.
- Proven ability to design and scale operational processes that work for SMB clients with simple needs as well as enterprises with complex, global workforces.
- Experience leading automation initiatives, no-touch workflows, or large-scale system rollouts across multiple markets.
- Strong analytical skills with hands-on proficiency in SQL, Looker, Snowflake, Excel/Sheets, and operational performance monitoring (Datadog or similar).
- Familiarity with payroll systems, HRIS integrations, or other compliance-critical SaaS products strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working across customer segments - SMB, Mid-Market, and Enterprise - and enabling teams to tailor solutions to their distinct needs.
- Skilled in GTM readiness and global rollouts, with a track record of driving adoption and consistency across regions.
- Problem-focused, solutions-oriented mindset with excellent prioritisation, stakeholder management, and organisational design skills.
- General technical knowledge of software development and data flows (APIs, integrations, sync engines) is a significant plus.
