Senior Engineering Manager-DevOps

We're looking for an Senior Engineering Manager to join our Release Engineering tribe.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineering leader to drive the evolution of our release engineering capabilities. In this role, you'll lead a team of DevOps and release engineers supporting Happening's delivery infrastructure across hundreds of services, ensuring our product teams experience smooth, reliable, and straightforward deployment processes. Your leadership will be crucial as we shape our future state with unified release tooling via a monorepo powered by Bazel, collaborating with platform teams to create an optimized engineering experience for all engineers at Happening.

What You'Ll Do

• Lead and develop a high-performing team of DevOps and release engineers, including hiring plan ownership, performance management and calibration, succession planning, and mentoring of tech leads and emerging managers.
• Own release engineering outcomes across Happening, driving adoption of unified tooling and golden paths across product tribes, with measurable improvements in developer productivity and delivery velocity.
• Establish and govern operational excellence standards for software delivery: define and report DORA metrics, CI/CD SLOs, change management policies, incident response and post-incident learning.
• Partner with Platform, Security, Compliance, and Product leadership to sequence the roadmap, align on trade-offs, and land changes with effective enablement and change management.
• Scale monorepo and Bazel strategy, CI/CD standards, and paved roads that reduce cognitive load and increase reliability for hundreds of services.

What We'Re Looking For

• 5+ years of engineering management with proven performance management, calibration, and career growth at scale, including building and evolving teams.
• 6+ years software engineering; strong background with DevOps/SRE in multi-service, multi-tenant environments.
• Demonstrated ownership of org-level delivery and reliability metrics, including DORA metrics, SLOs for CI/CD, and incident management.
• Experience delivering platform roadmaps, prioritizing across multiple stakeholders, and landing adoption through documentation, enablement, and change management.
• Deep familiarity with Kubernetes, CI/CD, GitOps (e.g., Argo), cloud providers, and build systems.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across engineering, product, and leadership.

Nice To Have

• Experience leveraging agentic workflows and AI-powered automations to improve the software development lifecycle, including test generation, changelog summarization, CI/CD policy checks, and developer self-service.
• Applying AI to operational workflows such as proactive issue triaging, incident assistance, and LLM-backed support deflection with measurable impact on MTTR and support volumes.
• Willingness to roll up your sleeves and stay close to code when needed
• Familiarity with common Infrastructure-as-Code languages and tooling such as Terraform, Helm, Kustomize, and CloudFormation.
• Experience building and managing large-scale projects in a monorepo architecture with Bazel builds, including remote caching, sandboxing, and reproducible build pipelines.
