In pursuit of this mission, we are looking to hire a Athletics and STEM Specialist. This position will provide essential support for athletic and STEM programs by coordinating event scheduling, logistics, and communication among stakeholders. Ensure compliance with regulations, manage facilities and equipment, and promote student wellness and leadership. Collaborate with educators and community partners to enhance STEM opportunities and professional development. Monitor participation, track data, assist with budgeting, and champion equity and inclusion across all programs.

Qualifications
- Applicant must possess a background in coaching and/or administration of athletic events.
- Be responsible to District Athletic Director and able to work cooperatively with other school staff.
- Effective communication skills with various groups;
- Has demonstrated organization and management skills;
- A commitment to the total athletic program;
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents with little direction.
- Knowledge of budgetary processes and demonstrated fiscal responsibility.
- Demonstrates strong leadership qualities and personal integrity
Job Responsibilities
- Secretarial support to the District Athletic Director and all 7-12 Athletic Directors;
- Assist the District Athletic Director on monitoring District athletic budgets;
- Planning and arranging for the staffing for home athletic events;
- Hiring and coordination of athletic coaches;
- Taking care of official correspondence and contracts;
- Arranging athletic schedules in cooperation with the school Athletic Directors;
- Knowledgeable of the NCAA eligibility standards, MHSAA rules and regulations, and Lansing School District
- Athletic eligibility policy (Board Policy 5130);
- Promoting publicity for all events, including notifications to the press.
- Assist in scheduling athletic events, tournaments, and transportation logistics.
- Support compliance with state and league rules, eligibility requirements, and safety guidelines.
- Coordinate communication between building athletic directors, coaches, families, and district athletic director.
- Help manage athletic facilities use, inventory, and equipment distribution.
- Contribute to promoting student-athlete wellness, leadership, and academic balance.
- Collaborate with teachers to expand extracurricular STEM opportunities for students.
- Manage logistics such as registration, materials procurement, and event scheduling.
- Build partnerships with local businesses, universities, and STEM organizations to enrich student experiences.
- Support professional development opportunities for staff engaged in STEM programming.
- Highlight student achievements in athletics and STEM.
- Track participation data and prepare reports for district athletic director.
- Assist with budget monitoring, purchasing, and resource allocation.
- Serve as a liaison between schools, community organizations, and district office.
- Promote equity and inclusion across all programs to ensure access for all students.
