Role Summary:
Verition is seeking an experienced Analyst to join our Commodities team. The successful candidate will provide deep fundamental and structural analysis of the global gasoline market and support the trading strategies. This role requires a commercially minded analyst who can deliver timely, actionable insights, build and maintain proprietary models, and help identify dislocations and opportunities in gasoline markets across regions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fundamentals & Forecasting
- Build, maintain, and enhance gasoline supply-demand balance models across key regions.
- Track global and regional trade flows, refinery operations, inventories, blending economics, and pricing structures.
- Forecast short- and medium-term gasoline balances, cracks, spreads, and arbitrage economics.
- Trading Support
- Deliver real-time analysis and insights to portfolio managers and traders.
- Identify trading opportunities in gasoline and related products through structural dislocations or market shifts.
- Provide scenario analysis around policy/regulation, refinery outages, or macro shocks.
- Research & Data Analytics
- Develop proprietary data tools and quantitative models to improve market forecasting and trade idea generation.
- Source, clean, and analyze high-frequency datasets to create unique market insights.
- Stay ahead of evolving gasoline quality specifications, environmental regulations, and market structure changes.
- Collaboration & Communication
- Partner closely with traders, PMs, and other commodity analysts across various teams.
- Prepare and deliver regular market outlooks, risk scenarios, and strategy notes to investment teams.
- Contribute to cross-commodity insights, especially at the crude and refined products interface.
Qualifications:
- 4–10+ years of experience as a gasoline or refined products analyst within trading, hedge fund, or energy research environment.
- Proven track record of alpha-generating insights that supported trading strategies.
- Strong understanding of refining economics, blending, and regional gasoline market dynamics.
- Expertise in supply-demand modeling, forecasting, and quantitative analysis.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, Python, SQL; experience with data vendors such as Kpler, Vortexa, Genscape is a plus).
