The role of a People Partner at Manulife is a dynamic one, requiring a blend of strong skills in human resources, data acumen, listening and insights, and outstanding leadership coaching and mentoring abilities. This role combines market-leading practices with a strategic understanding of how business operates, all while engaging leaders in an enterprise-wide talent strategy.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Strategic partner to aligned Private Markets business teams to develop and drive the people strategy, workforce planning (e.g., skills, structure, people, etc.), talent management, and organizational change.
  • Be a thought leader and agent of change with respect to the People function, constantly and creatively assessing and sharing opportunities and risks with respect to the function, driving continuous improvement, and demonstrating how the People/Comms function may be used, changed or adapted to provide benefits to the broader organization.
  • Be the face of “One People/Comms” to leadership ensuring People partners and resources are delivered seamlessly and, in a customer-centric way, to support acquisition, engagement and retention of top talent in line with business need.
  • Actively analyze data with the goal of communicating insights back to the business to advise their people related strategies and priorities.
  • Proactively and strategically drive talent identification and development processes to ensure that the Private Markets leaders deliver meaningful career experiences for our talent, while maintaining sufficient bench strength and succession plans for officer and critical roles.
  • Partner closely with the wider People function to leverage our global scale, contributing to its agenda, and operate seamlessly as one team.
  • Provides feedback, advice and coaching to senior leaders on talent issues, People strategies, and leadership
  • Anticipates impact of change (including risks) on the organization and provides advice and education to leaders including escalation as appropriate.
  • Oversees delivery of all cyclical employee initiatives such as Employee Engagement Survey, Performance Management, Talent Review, and Compensation Cycle for assigned client groups etc.
  • Provides leadership, direction and oversight to a small team of People Partners in global locations supporting the distributed Timber and Agricultural business. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10+ years of experience across several People Practice disciplines
  • Proven success as a leadership coach with the ability to influence, truly collaborate, negotiate, and work in a Global matrixed reporting environment
  • Use of data and analytics to drive business solutions
  • Well networked to bring thought leadership into the function and profile Manulife within the broader community
  • Strong communicator – both written and verbal with experience delivering messages to a senior audience.
  • Client centricity with a focus on the employee experience
  • Strategic partnership orientation both internally and externally; continually seek input/feedback from clients to effectively meet needs of the organization
  • Excellent business and professional judgement including an ability to drive business outcomes, even with ambiguity.

Salary range is expected to be between

$152,900.00 USD - $283,800.00 USD
