Job Description
Baird is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our team in Vancouver, Washington, with a focus on delivering high-quality marine and waterfront infrastructure projects. This is a senior-level engineering position centered on technical execution, design, and project delivery, supporting multidisciplinary teams across a range of challenging and rewarding projects.
This role is ideal for an experienced structural engineer with strong technical capabilities and a background in marine or waterfront infrastructure. The position includes opportunities to support project planning, perform complex design and analysis, and contribute to quality assurance.
What You Will Do
- Execute structural engineering tasks related to the design and analysis of waterfront and marine structures, such as piers, wharves, bulkheads, pile-supported platforms, and mooring systems.
- Perform and review structural calculations using tools such as SAP2000, LPILE, APILE, and others.
- Support multidisciplinary project teams by coordinating with civil, coastal, and geotechnical engineers.
- Prepare detailed engineering reports, design drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Ensure designs meet applicable codes and standards (e.g., AISC, ACI, ASCE).
- Contribute to internal quality control by performing peer reviews of calculations and design documents.
- Participate in site visits, inspections, and field investigations as needed.

Qualifications
What You Will Bring
- Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Washington State or eligible for licensure
- 10+ years of experience in structural engineering, preferably with a focus on marine or waterfront infrastructure
- Broad knowledge of deep foundation systems, structural steel, reinforced concrete, and waterfront construction methods
- Proficiency in structural analysis/design software such as SAP2000, LPILE, and related tools
- Effective technical writing and documentation skills
- Experience producing detailed plans, specifications, and calculation packages
- Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits or project coordination
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with seismic design for marine structures
- Familiarity with standards such as AASHTO, PIANC, API, or U.S. Army Corps EM manuals
- Exposure to design-build or construction-phase engineering services
- Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation
- PE licensure in additional U.S. states
