Supervise the operations of a specific hatchery, monitoring daily activities and developing strategies for improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Documentation: Complete chick delivery sheets, flock pull sheets, and mortality charts. Keep logs on truck miles and hours worked by drivers.
- Logistics: Ensure the movement of chicks to farms according to the shipment schedule.
- Equipment Monitoring: Oversee incubation, hatchery, and environmental control equipment.
- Supervision: Supervise personnel on a daily basis.
- Egg Grading: Grade fleets of eggs from hen farms.
- Vaccination: Prepare vaccines for chickens.
- Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as needed and any other duties assigned by the manager.
Qualifications
- Education: Post-high school education including special training, vocational school, or college courses.
- Experience: 2 years of experience in a hatchery setting or live production area.
- Computer Skills: Basic computer skills.
- Travel: 1-2 trips per year.
- Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise personnel in a single department or work unit.
- Biosecurity: Must not own, possess, or otherwise maintain any domestic, wild or exotic fowl to be considered, required to sign a Bio-security agreement to avoid any non-commercial avian species examples: chickens, ducks, birds, parakeets, parrots, etc. The Company Animal Welfare Policy must be followed at all times.
