About The Role

Harman Professional is seeking a talented and highly motivated engineer to join our Professional Loudspeaker Systems Engineering department dedicated to JBL professional loudspeakers. As a principal systems engineer you will be responsible for delivering new products to market and will be involved from conception to mass production. The systems engineer will perform electro-acoustic analysis and design and be responsible for the overall sound and performance of the product. The systems engineer will work with mechanical engineers on the final product, the design for manufacturing, and the environmental and compliance design.
What You Will Do
- Understand new product proposals from the product manager, evaluate the feasibility with the engineering team.
- Create and maintain product requirements specification and design architecture.
- Take full responsibility for engineering new products and product families.
- Develop creative acoustic designs, simulate initial concepts create prototypes and demonstrate product feasibility.
- Pivot between the product manager, project manager and engineering team, to resolve engineering and project timing issues
- Being the acoustic specialist in the project team
- Mentor other engineers and technicians.
What You Need to Be Successful
- Relevant Bachelor’s degree: Acoustics, Physic, Mechanical, Electrical or equivalent
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience in loudspeaker systems design.
- Thorough understanding of fundamental acoustic engineering principles
- Experience in using simulation software (COMSOL, SolidWorks)
- Experience in using test and measurement equipment (e.g. Klippel R&D environment, Listen SoundCheck, EASRA, or similar)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working within and guiding interdisciplinary teams
Bonus Points if You Have
- Relevant Masters or PhD degree
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and quality control
- List of achievements that includes granted patents and technical publications
- Experience in software in Matlab / Python or similar

- Willingness to work in an office in Northridge, CA
- Successfully complete a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment

Salary Ranges:
