The Role
The Power Systems Engineering Supervisor will build and lead a team of passionate power systems engineers for bulk power transmission and distribution management systems to ensure successful delivery of software projects. Using AspenTech OSI’s Monarch platform, you’ll work closely with global utility customers to configure, model, and implement complex real-time power system control solutions. This role combines deep power systems knowledge, customer interaction, and hands-on system integration.Your Impact
- Design, plan, integrate, test, and commission hardware and software requirements on customer systems.
- Provide technical sales support of state-of-the-art power systems applications for real-time control systems, including sales presentations and product demonstrations.
- Work directly with customers to define requirements for advanced control systems for utilities, including Energy Management Systems (EMS) / Generation Management Systems (GMS) / Distributed Energy Resources Management system (DERMS) / Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS).
- Own troubleshooting efforts for discovered variances and deploy resolutions in a timely manner.
- Define project requirements through customer communication and communicate the requirements to other departments, as necessary.
- Lead project efforts for hardware, software, and system installation, integration, and testing (such as FAT / SAT)
- Manage staff and assigns tasks to engineering and technical personnel.
- Lead teams in the development of new solutions and processes.
- Oversee project logistics and resource allocation.
- Assist in creating training materials and project documentation as needed.
What You'Ll Need
- Masters / Bachelors in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field.
- 4+ years of experience in one or more of the following: power systems, electric utility operations/dispatch, real-time control systems.
- Experience with delivery of complex software projects and balancing customer expectations with project scope.
- Experience with network modelling and offline simulation with tools such as PSSE, PowerFactory, Etap or similar.
- Experience with electrical utility control systems (SCADA, EMS, GMS, ADMS, OMS, DERMS) or experience working in utility operations or engineering support is good to have.
- Scripting knowledge (Python, JSON or similar) - strong scripting preferred, but willingness to develop this further is welcome.
- Experience with geo-spatial processing software (GIS) including building tools and models for electrical network, is preferred.
- Database and data structure knowledge and experience (SQL, XML, Mongo, GIS)
- Industry experience in 1 or more of ADMS / OMS / EMS / GMS.
- Basic knowledge of databases and data warehousing.
