A Day In The Life
Are you passionate about precision, process improvement, and building internal capabilities? As a Calibration Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy of our equipment while driving strategic initiatives to insource calibration activities and elevate the service levels of our department.This position is ideal for a proactive individual who thrives on identifying opportunities for improvement, implementing solutions that drive efficiency and quality, and contributing to the long-term sustainability of our calibration operations. You’ll join a dynamic, self-propelling team based in Heerlen, dedicated to delivering successful and accurate calibrations. With a flexible hybrid work model, this role offers a balance between in-office collaboration and remote productivity.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
- Lead and support insourcing initiatives for calibration activities, including feasibility assessments, resource planning, and implementation
- Analyse existing calibration workflows and processes, identifying areas for optimization that carry strategic value
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement initiatives that enhance efficiency, reduce downtime, and improve response times
- Maintain accurate calibration records and reports to ensure traceability and audit readiness and support internal and external audits by providing accurate calibration documentation
- Perform regular reviews and updates of quality procedures, ensuring alignment with evolving requirements and best practices and perform calibration and verification of instruments, equipment, and systems used in production and testing
- Proactively monitor service metrics and key performance indicators, identifying trends and recommending corrective actions
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices to drive innovation and maintain competitiveness in calibration methods
Required Knowledge And Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or a closely related field)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Dutch
- Basic understanding of calibration principles, measurement uncertainty, and metrology
- Familiarity with calibration tools and software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail combined with excellent organizational
Experience with insourcing technical services, especially calibration or metrology-related functions, previous experience in calibration, metrology, or quality assurance, knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 or similar standards, hands-on experience with sensors, gauges, and testing equipment, exposure to stakeholder engagement and change management and experience in project management or continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) are considered advantages in this role.
