Seasonal Associate, Junior Front-End Software Developer

ICF International seeks a Seasonal Associate, Junior Software Developer to support the research and development of new AI-assisted capabilities. The successful candidate will act as a Front-End Software Developer to support small R&D efforts within ICF. Your work will contribute to the knowledge of how generative AI (GenAI) works, how we can make practical applications, and pathways for future research. We are looking for individuals that want to analyze and understand large language models (LLMs). Utilize your skills to help experiment and prototype future capabilities for implementation at large-scale.

As a Seasonal Associate, Junior Software Developer, you will work with stakeholders, subject matter experts, and researchers to develop, evolve, and enhance capabilities. Additionally, you will provide software engineering development and support. This is an opportunity to contribute to an important project at the research phase and work with the latest and emerging technologies.

This is an entry-level, on-call role (approx. 20 hours per week). The role is fully remote with occasional meetings required at the ICF headquarters in Reston, VA. At this time, relocation nor housing assistance is available for this position. Pay is $23.00 per hour.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Work closely with a matrixed research team to understand GenAI and practical applications of
• Develop and mature capabilities
• Support the design, development, and future deployment of R&D systems adhering to the Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipeline
• Documentation support of the R&D lifecycle
• Perform functions associated with the analysis of information, refinement of raw research, reviewing output, and making upgrades/improvements to nascent capabilities

What You Must Have:

• A minimum of 60 college-credit hours completed
• Due to federal contract requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1 year of Python experience
• 1 year of Azure experience
• Hands-on experience with Large Language Models (OpenAI mostly, LaMDA, StableLM, LLaMA, PaLM, or related large language model.)
• Proficient with Git and GitHub
• Experience with shell scripting using Bash, PowerShell, or equivalent
• Experience with Linux operating systems and containers
• Experience with Python frameworks, especially Streamlit or similar
• Ability to prioritize and manage own workload
• Interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with various clients in order to explain and elaborate on technical details
• Strong math background

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:
