The Opportunity

This Test Development Engineer I position works out of our Sylmar, CA location in the Cardiac Rhythm Managment Division. As a global leader in Cardiac Rhythm Technologies, we focus on innovative technologies that can improve the way doctors treat people with heart arrhythmias, or irregular heartbeats.

Test Development Engineer assists with designing and developing non-product software and hardware to test new products.  Test Development Engineer investigates and resolves production problems involving test equipment, software, and hardware. You will apply engineering and scientific principles to evaluate and solve technical problems. Remain abreast of and consults on technological advancements. Identify and routinely uses the most effective, cost-efficient, and best practices to execute processes; continually evaluates their effectiveness and appropriateness.

What You’ll Work On

  • Develop hardware interfaces, including test points within design, and develop software to test design using Automated Test Equipment (ATE) testers.
  • Assist others in the design and development of interface hardware, probes, fixtures and circuit boards to test hybrid integrated circuits and medical devices.
  • Maintain existing software. Install changes as necessary to provide testing for updates to existing product designs. Updates all documentation to support changes.
  • Generate project plans and software and hardware documents relative to the resolution of problems and/or the implementation of new test software.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies between new design test requirements and test system capabilities using hardware or software designs.
  • Write test plans and conduct design verification testing of hardware.
  • Design tools and automated test apparatus to aid evaluation of a product.
  • Analyze test data to present statistical analysis and identify trends for process optimization and quality improvement.
  • Coordinate transfer of device and test software into production and provides follow-up support to facilitate resolution of problems.
  • Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
  • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical engineering or related engineering field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Minimum 6 months in electrical test or test equipment design/development, as well as experience in mixed signal automated testing.
  • Basic familiarity with "C" and “C#” programming or similar programming languages. Particularly, the ability to code procedural test methods within a larger software framework.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Broad familiarity or experience with mixed signal (analog/digital)
  • Automated Test Equipment (ATE) systems; expertise in one or more relevant specialties.
  • An interest in open-ended, cross-functional technical investigations across manufacturing, product design, and failure analysis.
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
  • Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner. Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
  • Ability to generally work in an office environment.

$72,100.00 – $114,700.00
