The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for the management of inventory levels and the procurement of inventoried items. All inventory purchasing will be conducted by the Inventory Control Specialist. This role involves monitoring inventory levels, analyzing data, implementing inventory control strategies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals. The Supply Chain Inventory Control Specialist plays a crucial role in minimizing stockouts, reducing excess inventory, and improving overall supply chain performance.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Associates degree preferred

Inventory Buying

  • Responsible for the purchasing of all inventory items.
  • Review inventory replenishment jobs for accuracy and release in a timely manner.
  • Follow up on all open orders to ensure timely receipt of product from suppliers.
  • Implement and monitor inventory control measures to prevent stockouts and overstocks.
  • Assure suppliers meet delivery and service expectations.
  • Cultivate a good working relationship with all suppliers and their reps.
  • Work with sourcing to find alternative substitute items for back ordered products.
  • Handle all discrepancies for inventory items as reported by receiving staff.
  • Initiate returns with suppliers and provide proper documentation to staff for ERP return process.
  • Resolve match exceptions for inventory purchase orders.
  • Identify items that should be inventoried and bring into WHSE and vice versa.
  • Update basic inventory master item details including price, UOM, supplier details, reference number changes, etc. in Workday.

Inventory Management

  • Sets inventory levels based off ERP analytics and supplier provided information.
  • Identifies and implements strategies to optimize inventory levels, including safety stock, reorder points, max levels, and lead time management.
  • Run daily inventory report to identify item issues.
  • Meets weekly with inventory team to go over subs and troubled items.
  • Analyze slow-moving and obsolete inventory and develop action plans for liquidation or disposal.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile any discrepancies.
  • Work with staff to ensure proper FIFO is being managed.
  • Helps update department PAR levels, PAR locations, and templates on a regular basis.
  • Adds/subtracts items from Pyxis as necessary.
  • Directs warehouse team on monthly cycle counts and suggests processes for improved accuracy.
  • Record cycle count data and track count accuracy.
  • Keeps the warehouse and storeroom organized and properly laid out for ease of processes.

Conversions:

  • Participates in new inventory product conversions.
  • Works with sourcing and SCIS to support in both hard and soft product transitions.
  • Coordinates with WHSE staff to physically convert items.
  • Help departments find new locations for new products.
  • Update templates and PAR locations to reflect conversion changes.

Other:

  • Maintains and monitors key performance statistics, which may include the creation, and submission of periodic reports to Supply Chain personnel.
  • Develops a thorough understanding of the ERP and its inventory management capabilities.
  • Supports WHSE staff with WHSE duties to cover PTO.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to provide updates, address concerns, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Point person for Pyxis troubleshooting.
  • Makes suggestions and implements strategies for improved efficiencies throughout the receiving, order picking, and distribution processes.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by leadership.

  • Proven experience in inventory management, supply chain, purchasing, or related roles.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis and interpretation.
  • Familiarity with inventory management concepts.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
