Essential Job Duties:

  • Responsible for day to day supervision/oversight the work performed by the Cytotechnologists and Cytology Preparation Technicians
  • Responsible for day to day supervision/oversight the work performed by the pathology practice and staff
  • Manages and facilitates relationships with Healthcare Systems and client practices
  • Responsible for CapEx and OpEx budgets and the practice P&L
  • Is accessible to provide consultation to resolve technical problems
  • Documents slide interpretation results of each case examined or reviewed in accordance with established department reporting procedures; For each 24 hour period, documents:
  • The total number of slides examined
  • The number of hours spent examining slides
  • Ensures documentation of the total number of slides evaluated by the Cytotechnologists
  • Ensure quality of specimen processing
  • Compile and maintain all statistical data related to Quality Assurance
  • Perform supervisory-related duties such as interviewing, hiring, scheduling, completing performance evaluations/corrective action notices, competency assessment, training, and supervising Cytology Prep Technicians/Cytotechnologists
  • Create and maintain all Standard Operating Procedures and related documents as required
  • Adheres to all PBM Safety policies and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies
  • Actively participates in, and has knowledge of, laboratory Performance Improvement activities, including resolution of customer service issues, evaluation of new equipment and/or procedures or methods
  • Participates as a member of various committees as requested/assigned; Attends company meetings as required
  • Ensure upper management is aware of any serious issues/concerns regarding lab operations, equipment, personnel, etc.
  • Handle infectious biological specimens, caustics, toxic chemicals and/or irritants appropriately and safely
  • Learn and apply computer related applications and programs, including using electronic keyboards and other peripheral devices
  • Utilize automated laboratory equipment properly according to lab procedures and manufacturers' instructions
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested
Qualifications

Skills And Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree; Certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) Board of Registry
  • Texas State Cytology license and 3+ years of previous Cytology experience required; Previous supervisory experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to perform tasks with a high degree of accuracy
  • Demonstrated verbal and written command of the English language; Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Demonstrated ability exercise independent judgment under minimal supervision; Ability to function as a member of a team
  • Working knowledge of computer applications
  • Demonstrated customer service focused skills
  • Ability to comply with HIPAA regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain productive, effective teams; Demonstrated ability to build and maintain appropriate peer relationships to facilitate organizational objectives
  • Demonstrated ability to perform multiple tasks in a limited time frame
