About The Role

Thorne Harbour Health is seeking a skilled and compassionate LGBTIQ+ Specialist Mental Health Clinician to join our team in Melton. This role is part of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Local Service model, ensuring accessible, inclusive, and trauma-informed care for LGBTIQ+ people experiencing mental ill health or psychological distress.

Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, you will:

• Provide comprehensive mental health assessments and evidence-based interventions.
• Deliver therapeutic care tailored to the unique needs of LGBTIQ+ clients and their families (including chosen family).
• Collaborate with peer practitioners and lived experience staff to create affirming services.
• Use a trauma-informed and intersectional approach to care planning and service delivery.
• Contribute to co-design initiatives that centre the voices of LGBTIQ+ communities.

About You

You will have a tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or a related discipline. You will also bring to the role:

• Personal lived experience within the LGBTQIA+ community, demonstrating resilience and a commitment to mental health and wellbeing.
• Eligibility for registration with AHPRA or AASW.
• Clinical experience in mental health assessment and therapeutic interventions.
• A strong understanding of the mental health needs of LGBTIQ+ communities.
• The ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with clients, peers, and service partners.
• Postgraduate qualifications in counselling and experience working with LGBTIQ+ clients are highly regarded.
