UC Health is seeking a Database Administrator to join our growing team of data professionals who are passionate about advancing healthcare through data and analytics. Maintenance, Monitoring & Problem Resolution

  • Monitor and maintain database performance, capacity, and integrity.
  • Automate backups and conduct regular testing.
  • Apply vendor software fixes and upgrades.
  • Troubleshoot system issues in coordination with IS&T staff.
  • Write and interpret complex SQL queries.
  • Evaluate and implement tools for monitoring and resolution.

System Definition & Integration

  • Design, configure, install, and tune databases for UC Health systems.
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal teams on specifications and deployments.
  • Support replication, failover, and clustering strategies.

Planning & Staff Development

  • Provide technical expertise for new installations and upgrades.
  • Mentor junior team members and support skill development.
  • Lead database migrations and version upgrades.

Documentation

  • Maintain documentation for disaster recovery, configurations, and procedures.
  • Create data flow diagrams and process documentation.

Coordination & Collaboration

  • Foster high client satisfaction through effective communication and teamwork.
  • Coordinate with vendors, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
  • Contribute to project planning, change management, and reporting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in database administration or related IT roles.
  • Strong understanding of networking and database architecture.
  • Desire to learn and implement new skills in support of a data-driven culture.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced, and evolving environment.
