Role Accountabilities:

  • Promote and role model Arcadis Health and Safety Principles during the planning and delivery of work.
  • Perform role in accordance with the Arcadis behavioral framework.
  • Work alongside team leadership.

  • Manage and take accountability for the performance and behaviors of more junior staff.
  • Work collaboratively with related design disciplines within an agreed engineering management environment to ensure the integration of the overall design or solution.
  • Maintain strong working relationship with senior staff in Arcadis GECs and regional offices and understand the wider company perspective.
  • Develop and maintain a good understanding of the services delivered by Arcadis, and the industry sector to facilitate personal networking and to consolidate personal credibility in the company.
  • Oversee an agreed scope of work and the operational workload of a team ensuring work is allocated appropriately and resources are fully utilized.
  • Manage the performance of team members identifying and ensuring the resolution of any issues.
  • Develop, present and gain agreement for design options and opportunities to maximize the profitability of
  • design components and drive the implementation of these.
  • Provide technical advice to team members, to support them in their delivery on the project and in their professional development.
  • Ensure effective financial and management controls are in place and deployed to enable monitoring, modification and forecasting of Arcadis GEC tasks as appropriate.
  • When appointed in the role of a Task Manager, drive project performance, service delivery and technical and commercial outcomes and undertake regular reviews, ensuring delivery is above expectation.
  • When appointed in the role of a Task Manager, communicate with team members to ensure that they understand, and become engaged with, the project strategy, brief and requirements. 
  • Participate in development of technical proposals for Pursuit to Win activities led by regional office staff Provide specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
  • Provide technical leadership to the team and more junior staff.
  • Take accountability for the quality of work completed by the team Work collaboratively with other design disciplines to ensure the integration of the overall design or solution.
  • Undertake verification checking of elements of work with higher complexity Manage the production and quality of designs and associated documentation and reports to ensure that they meet or exceed expectations as well as Arcadis requirements, and that they comply with national standards and codes of practice.
  • Lead interdisciplinary reviews of deliverables on behalf of engineering discipline.
  • Support the Business Unit Leader in the commercial management of the business unit (e.g. cost to complete, resource planning etc.) to ensure a successful result.
  • Manage quality assurance and feedback from Arcadis’ regional offices ensuring effective communication of any change/modifications.
  • Develop effective working relationships with the Project Director or Managers in Arcadis’ regional offices to ensure effective communication of progress and changes, as well as the resolution of issues.
  • Prepare a development plan with your line manager during the Professional Development Review process and take ownership of achieving the goals identified within this plan.
  • Present complex technical solutions to Arcadis regional office staff. 
  • Keep up to date with developments in the industry sector and with technical and legislative developments and seek out opportunities to develop a strong professional profile.
  • Comply with Arcadis General Business Principles and Specific Anti-Corruption Standards.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Master’s degree in engineering or equivalent and formally licensed to act as a professional engineer (if required in their Arcadis GEC country).
  • PEng Canada would be advantageous. 
  • Looking for candidates with minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Able to lead and provide direction and technical advice to team members, to support them in their delivery and in their professional development. 
  • Able to identify the limits of both their personal knowledge and skills the limits of their team's skill and knowledge. 
  • Capable of exercising sound holistic independent judgement and take responsibility and accountability for their own performance and that of junior team members.
  • Able to understand and comply with the Code of Conduct operated by professional institution. 
  • Engage with activities promoted by professional institution.
  • Demonstrate appropriate professional standards, recognizing obligations to society, the profession and the environment.
  • Exercise responsibilities in an ethical manner.
  • Communicate well with others at all levels including effective use of English orally and in writing. 
  • Discuss ideas and plan competently and with confidence.

  • Able to manage diversity issues. 
  • Technical ownership of safe design processes which consider safety during construction, operation and decommissioning through the use of hazard identification and risk assessment during design development. 
  • Sound knowledge of legislation, hazards and safe systems of work. 
  • Understand how to manage health, safety and welfare within own area of responsibility. 
  • Experienced in leading, and working with, people from varied disciplines, backgrounds and cultures, Plan for effective project implementation. 
  • Manage the planning and organization of tasks, people and resources. 
  • Manage teams and develop staff to meet changing technical and managerial needs. 
  • Manage quality processes. 
  • Excellent task management, stakeholder relationship management and commercial skills at a level expected of a professional person. 
  • Thorough understanding of one or more sectors within the business. 
  • Maintain and extend a sound theoretical approach to the application of technology in engineering practice. 
  • Ability to use a sound evidence-based approach to problem solving and be able to contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Able to operate reliably, independently and competently in a specialist discipline Able to identify, review and select techniques, procedures and methods to undertake engineering tasks.
  • Capable of contributing to the design and development of engineering solutions.
  • Ability to implement design solutions and lead their evaluation. 
  • Able to provide input to estimates for the engineering budget and schedule and to oversee technical resources to meet requirements on large, straightforward projects.
  • Able to use sound knowledge of statutory and commercial frameworks within own area of responsibility and have an appreciation of other commercial arrangements.
  • Sound knowledge of sustainable development best practice.
  • Manage engineering activities that contribute to sustainable.
