Context

Under its Migration Business and Human Rights portfolio in the garment sector, IOM Jordan intends to support the setup of monthly community-based participatory recreative and skills building activities, aiming at increasing garment workers well-being and access to information. Activities will be conducted in community centers in Sahab, next to Al Tajamouat Industrial City (ATIC) QIZ.

Under the overall supervision of the Head of Programmes in IOM Jordan and direct supervision of the Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion Project Officer, the Project Associate will be responsible and accountable to support the planning, implementation and monitoring or activities in the area, in coordination with workers and with factory welfare officers. Activities are expected to be conducted during the weekend, and the working schedule might be adjusted accordingly.

1.Support activity design: Assist in shaping community-based initiatives that align with the objective of enhancing worker well-being in the ATIC area, particularly in Jerash and Atlanta. Contribute to promote inclusive access to activities, considering gender and nationality, as emphasized in the results framework.

  1. 2. Preparation of work plans and schedules: Assist in the drafting of detailed implementation timelines and logistical arrangements for awareness-raising and recreational activities. Support the creation of detailed schedules and logistical frameworks for activity rollout.3.Coordination of cash assistance and procurement: participate and support in the monitoring of the distribution of cash assistance where applicable, handle logistical and financial arrangements for events and activities, supporting the procurement and stock monitoring of materials and supplies in line with project needs and compliance standards.4. Document and report progress: Maintain records and contribute to the drafting of reports on outcomes, challenges, and lessons learned. Monitor key indicators such as the percentage of workers to report improvements in well-being and inclusive access to activities. Contribute to internal and donor reporting.
  2. 5. Coordination with stakeholders: Engage with factory management to understand worker needs and promote the value of community-based activities. Coordinate and deliver engagement sessions with workers and factory management with support from the LMI team.6. Conduct post-distribution monitoring: Support data collection efforts to assess the impact of activities on participants.7. Identify shortfalls in implementation, bring them to the attention of the supervisor and suggest corrective and improvement measures.8. Support sustainability: Assist to identify ways to sustain the impact of community-based activities beyond the project timeline. Identify gaps in delivery and complementary initiatives for development.9. Inclusivity and protection: apply principles of inclusivity, trauma sensitivity, and do-no-harm across all activities. Follow-up that activities are accessible and safe for all participants, especially vulnerable groups.10. Report issues: Identify and escalate any grievance or protection concerns raised during activities. Coordinate with relevant protection or case management teams to ensure appropriate follow-up.11. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education
  • Complete School diploma with five years of relevant experience; OR 
  • Bachelor’s degree in political or social sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Business administration or related fields from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience.
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.   Experience
  • Experience working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and
  • Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
Skills
  • Experience working directly with vulnerable migrants and knowledge of Assistance to Affected Populations and protection principles.
  • Experience organizing recreative and skills-based activities.
Languages
  • Fluency in English and Arabic (oral and written).
